You have got to be kidding me "Amused". It's people like you that give white-Americans a bad reputation. Crawl back under your rock and stop pretending to be American.

My prayers go out to the families, their friends and the entire UMES community. "AMUSED" I will be lifting up serveral prayers for you too!

Amused you are shameless. A young girl died and you spew racist hate.

I am in agreement with everyone else "Amused" that was an uncalled comment. A young lady just passed away and the others injured and you have the nerve to say something about their names. I am with Debster, I will be saying several prayers for you, because that was uncalled for. May God have mercy on your soul.

I was so upset when I read the comment from AMUSED. It is really sad that you actually took the time be so cruel and untouched by this tradegy. My heart is deeply saddened by this as yours should be also, AMUSED. You owe a deep appology for your ignorant comment. May GOD steer you to feel guilty and do the right thing.

It is those of you who put a hyphen before the word American that hurt us all. Whether white, black, brown or yellow. If you are here LEGALLY, you are an American. People like Amused and just scum. Plain and simple. My family's prayers to those who have lost.

amused is simply a coward, hiding behind an anonymous screenname; more than likely from his parents' basement.

My prayers goes out to the Newland family.
This story sent chills through my body being that I'm also a Turners Station native, an UMES alumni, and was involved in a serious car accident down "The Shore" while driving back to school.
Life is precious.

My heart goes out to the family as well as my condolences. I really got chills at the end of the story when she said she told her daughter to say see you later, because Goodbye is forever...That's the truth.

This is very sad. I am a UMES alum, and a very similar thing happened while I attended back in 1998. What a shame. Prayers be with those families.

My prayers are with all the families touched by this tragedy. Unfortunately this is not the first Baltimore area student killed travelling between UMES and Baltimore. As the parent of a UMES senior who traveled rt. 50 Monday night, I would like to see the campus offer activities to encourage students to stay on the weekend. Put young people on an extremely isolated campus that lacks the #1 weekend college activity, football, and you have a campus full of bored, restless folks. Unsupervised off-campus parties, which include underage drinking and marijuana smoking, are not the answer. After a shooting at an off-campus party last spring left two students shot my child, who never had an interest in those situations, now has additional justification to come home every weekend. The campus and local businesses need to join forces and offer fun, healthy alternatives for these students. How about organizing weekend community service opportunities within the financially depressed shore community? Fortunately my child graduates in December but, that doesn't mean my concern ends.

So sorry to read this. We have been to the UMES campus on our yearly bike ride through Salisbury and have ALWAYS been impressed by the kids there. Reminds me of those nice Cosby kids on the TV show. Well spoken well mannered young people.
AMUSED, you are sick and need some help with anger issues.I too will pray for you.

My heart truly goes out to the families of the victims in the car accident. I pray that God will give you the strenght that you need to endure this time of sorrow. To the young ladies that survived, I pray that God will give you what you need as well.

Let's not give Amused any more attention that he is desiring. He/she has gotten their 5 mins of fame. Let us pray that Satan looses his grip of this person who at this time could find nothing else to say but what is in a name....

God speed to you family during this very sorrowful time.

this is really sad. this just reminds of that death has no favorites and no one is exempt, not even us young folks. that's why we need to get linked up with christ because you never know when it's your time. heaven and hell are eternel but this life is not. may you prepare for eternity.

I really do not know what to say because losing a child is very hard to swallow. God will look over your daughter who is an angel. The comment that amused made is just the devil and amused needs God in its' life.

What's in a name, a rose by any other name would smell as sweet.
My prayers are with all of you.To the young ladies who survived...may you find peace, while you search for reason.

I can not even begin to understand the amount of greif everyone is feeling, as I feel it too. Five years ago, I was a new teacher at Dundalk Middle School in Baltimore County, exicted and eager to begin a new year and a new career. Brielle was one of the bright shining stars that I had the honor and pleasure of teaching that year. She is one of the students that I have often wondered about in the recent years, as I knew that she was to be graduating high school and heading for her future. I always knew that she would be successful, in her every endeavor. I am proud of all that she has done, and I am deeply mournful of the loss to her family, friends, community, and our world...as she only made it a better place, everyday that she was here.
