Where is Jessie Jackson, Big Al or Farrakan on this issue? When are they going to get involved ? I bet it won't be long now that this movement is taking off. Lets keep this snowballing it might really help. Nothing else seems to be working.

High petroleum-based energy prices are probably the only thing that will ultimately bring about sufficient investment in alternative energy sources. Cheap gas would virtually end meaningful investment in alternative energy. So cheap gas would actually be a bad thing. Bad for alternative energy, bad for the environment, and ultimately bad for our country because it would make us even more dependent on foreign sources of oil. So why would anyone pray for a bad thing? Why would God answer such a prayer?

Praying for lower gas prices... yeah, right, that will work. That makes about as much sense as God being interested in the outcome of a football game.

..agree that what can it hurt? Certainly, nothing else seems to be helping/happening. And granted in the world of journalistic reporting it's better than reading about kids' slaughtering their parents or drive-by shootings.

I can't believe this cranberry made the front of the Sun! Wow! How is this news?
Maybe this goof would be news if he took the gas and set himself ablaze like those monks.
Slow news day. Woof.

So why would anyone pray for a bad thing? Why would God answer such a prayer? "Amen". We've been through gas problems before in the '70's and we didn't do squat to steer ourselves away from our dependency on foreign oil. I tried. I bought an American-made Chevette.:( Then of course with the '90's came the SUV craze, which was made possible by an abundant supply of cheap gasoline. Today's gas prices will most likely only go higher and higher, as global demand has ramped up and shows no sign of relenting. So we better get serious about alternative energy development and not just leave it up to divine intervention.

Apparently Mr. Twyman has been praying for rain as well. I wish he'd stop.

Didn't this paper already report on something like this before? If these folks have the time to do this great, it can't hurt unless they are impeading traffic at the gas station -or- if they had to get in their cars to go to the gas station.
Higher energy prices may just be a blessing in disguise. People don't usually take action until it is painful. It's now getting painful, perhaps we as a country will follow through on something we should have been taking action on for decades.

"People should carpool or walk, he said. They should drive cars other than SUVs."
Then why isn't he praying for *that*? What an absurdity. Incredible that the Sun felt that this garbage was newsworthy. Praying at the pumps is a way to do nothing while sanctimoniously pretending to do something.

Mr. Twyman--All you need to pray for is common sense for the inside-the-D.C.Beltway crowd: More than 30 years of warning signals about the critical need for "energy independence" and we have had nothing but indolence and finger pointing. This crisis should be no surprise. No one has been civic-minded enough to unite, bite the bullet (initial higher costs) and develop energy--(drill more, built refineries, liquefy coal, build nuclear plants, solar panels, wind, geothermal, etc.)--It's all or nothing now. Good luck, Mr. Twyman.
