Every one of the negative reviews of America Van Lines is true. In fact I believe they don't begin to tell the real story of the dubious business practices and shoddy service this company routinely provides. The sales team is very persuasive and responsive until a contract is signed. The real fun doesn't start until it's actually time to move. Then, actual charges inevitably exceed the "binding" estimate by thousands of dollars. The movers themselves intimate that you'll be sorry if you don't tip them extravagantly. Valued belongings are mishandled to the point where, in my own case, more items were damaged or completely destroyed than not. No effort is made to even explain why delieveries are made days or weeks past the window provided by the company. And finally, legitimate claims are given such a run around -- we're talking close to a year from beginning to end -- the most patient person on Earth would blow a gasket before meeting half the ever expanding list of requirements, only to be denied compensation in the end.

I wish I'd gone with a reputable company like North American right from the beginning. Not only did I end up paying thousands more than more reputable companies' legally binding bids, I lost half the belongings I've treasured for half a lifetime.

What a heartbreaking experience ...

It's not what you say; it's what you do, Mr. Avraham. Instead of wasting your time defending your company online, you should bring your actual business policies and practices in line with your sales team's promises. Reputations are earned, and America Van Lines is earning the reputation it deserves.

This company is the worst company I have ever experienced. It's been 10 days and we still do not have our furniture, we moved out of state and we have nowhere to sleep and no work clothes. Their Sales Associated are liars, they promised us that our furniture would be delivered in 2 to 3 days. They are no capable of keep us updated or even tell us the truth about the situation and where our furniture is. They do not return phone calls and ignore voicemails. Customer service is inexistent, they do not help at all. Please stay away from this company

As much as I want to take credit for this move, we did not move you. It must be another company with a similar name.

There's a lot of negative reviews for this moving company, so in the name of fairness I would like to tell you about my experience with this company. I hired this company without looking at the reviews first. After I had already paid my deposit, I saw how many terrible reviews this company had and actually tried to cancel my contract. However, Matthew - my moving agent - convinced to stick with the company. The night before my move, the Mover called me to inform me he would be there at 9 am. The next morning he was there at 8:50am. The movers had everything packed and loaded in less than 3 hours. Then I met the movers in Pittsburgh 4 hours later where they delivered everything the very same day! They had everything unloaded and placed right where I wanted it in less than 2 hours. They charged me a flat rate that they had quoted me originally, despite the fact I had forgotten to add a few more things to my moving list. They didn't even charge me extra for the 3 flights of stairs they had to haul my stuff up to my new apartment. The movers were very friendly and prompt! The next time I move, I will definitely be using this Moving Company!

I am not sure who is Mitchell Brothers Moving (MBM). We are America Van Line and we did not move you at all. This is 2 different moving companies and we have no connection with the company being reviewd.

Also note that on Yelp, many reviews are filtered, so be sure to check all of them out, not just the unfiltered ones.
Then hear my story.
So far all belongings are 2+ WEEKS (not days) past promised date. I was told no truck was available, then no trailer, then no truck. Filed a BBB complaint.
Second estimator from their company estimated and the driver arrived to load and said it was too low of an estimate - by $500. I tried to call and was not able to get a response. Had no choice.
Third they promised the same people who load unload. The drivers laughed. That doesn't happen they said.
My wife has medical devices on the truck and it is impacting her health. Does MBM care? Nope. I'm not on the delivery schedule.
Notice that both link to pages under “Mitchell Brothers Moving” rather than MBM Moving. There happen to be more negative reviews under MBM Moving (Yelp and CitySearch) which is how they brand themselves on their flyers, website, and other communications.

I am not sure how to address this one. We do not have any customer in out system that is waiting over 10 days for delivery in Houston, TX. If job # will be provided I will be able to address the issue. Meanwhile, please check if it was America Van Line of Owings Mills, MD (us) or American Van Line from FL (not us).
Too many reviews over here are mistakenly on America Van Line.

As you can see from my responses, not all the reviews are on America Van Line but other companies which we have no affiliation with but are appearing on America Van Line review page from some reason which I cannot explain. It is better for me to response to all of them than to ignore them to make sure customer understanding that they are reviewing the wrong company.
Your review may be on the wrong company as well. If you will be able to provide me with job # I will be able to better response to your complaint.

I noticed you moved to Pittsburgh, PA in 2010. I am doing the same thing and I can't figure out what's going on with these bad reviews. They all seem to be related to other moving companies. I am interested in a local company even though America Van Lines is near Baltimore, MD and I am near Dale City, Virginia.
Every other company I have researched so far is either a scam, crooks, or they claim interstate moves and are not even near me.
I would like to hear an honest review of this company because I'm considering calling them. People need to get their names straight before posting a review because it's serious errors like these that give a good company a bad name.
I do not know anything about this company, but because people posted under the wrong name I don't know if they got their names mixed up or what.

Amerca, THAT'S AMERICA Vanline out of Owings Mills MD is as unprofessional as they come!! Very, very nice to get you to sign on, then it's good luck buddy!.My move went south from the start. I lived in Woodbridge, VA and was moving to Las Vegas. I placed an order for over $350.00 worth of boxes and after waitung for over a week I had to make the drive to them to get the boxes. Whoopee, said they'd give me a $20.00 credit. I spent close to double that in gas and I still haven't seen the twenty. Their operation works like this. They send a crew to load your belongings then sub contract it out to someone else if it's out of state. When they were packing up they put one of my Verizon boxes on the truck. The mover just climbed over the boxes to retrieve it and 2 boxes crashed to the bottom of the truck, my stereo receiver and a Bose sub-woofer. The sub lived but my receiver was DOA. Off to Best Buy for a new one. The driver/sub was arrogant and kept complaining he had to get to a job in CA. I wish I could post pictures!! My Sleep Comfort bed had an inlet tore out so they just left the bed unassembled. All the pins for bookcase shelves were missing and some were almost immposible to find. As we tried to settle in we started to notice more. One sofa had a drag mark burn in the back on the front side and a BRAND NEW one, never taken out of the shrink wrap from Haverty's had a burn mark through the fabric on the side of the arm. BRAND NEW and shot. There goes another $750.00. David missed inventory on his visit and told the guys to just load it up. I thought that was good of him until his foreman came with the papers to sign, close to $1,000.00 more than initial quote. No favor, just a way to dig into my wallet.Believe me, I spent a few days in hell trying to straighten out the mess. If ANYONE is considering using this company for a cross country move, make sure you see a shrink to verify your sanity because you will be very close to insane when you finally get your things. I figure they beat me out of close to three grand plus time and aggravation. How I wish I could move him!!! People, do NOT give a second thought to using this outfit on your move. Use Mayflower or some national company, pay the extra $1.000.00 and you will still come out ahead.

Dear Mr. Ludwick
The internet is a wonderful. You can post everything. However, there are some corrections that needs to be made:
We have provided you the date we will deliver your boxes but you wanted them before and you choose to pick them up yourself.
Your price DID NOT go over $1000. It went less than 10% from the original price after you wanted us to add some packing that you did not wish to do (original $5121.41 final $5546.40 difference $425).
The air mattress was defeated by you and was put in a box by you (We do not assemble items we did not disassemble). We had no knowledge if the inlet was tore during the time you put it in the box or not. Regardless, I offered to replace that for you. I also offered to reimburse you for some of the pins that are missing.
The sofa: You mentioned it was wrapped in the original packing from the store so we had no chance to inspect it before loading. I cannot tell if it was done by us or it was like that when you purchased it from the store.
Driver: The driver is contracted with us and works with us. This is a common practice in the industry. The shipment is America Van Line sole responsibility from start to finish and any claims go thru us and us only.
Delivery: First available date was 4/2/2011. Delivery date was about a week after. Well into our time frame of up to 21 business days as states in our contract.
You have signed at the end of the move that all items were accounted for and all items were placed and assembled to your satisfaction. If that was not the case, you should have not signed the paper and called the office.
Damages: You need to call our office and file an official written claim as required. Posting thru the internet is not an acceptable form of claim process. We will provide you the necessary documents to fill.

I had a horrible horrible hobbile experience with American Van Lines East. I was in the process of moving from FL to COS. They picked up my things on a Friday afternoon had told me a number of times over the phone during the whole process of setting up an account with them that they did not contract out like other moving companies that they took pride in doing the move themselves, seemed like nice people over the phone, so I set up the account and waited for moving day. Everything goes down hill from here. They loaded my stuff so fast I was sure something was going to break, then they told me it was going to be another $400 then what was quoted because it took up to much space and I need to be chared for bubble wrap for im not sure what, then they tell me 7-10 business days until my things will be delivered. YEA RIGHT! I called a week later to find out how everything was going and when to expect my things, well they were still sitting in a storage unit in Tampa. They ignored my phone calls and emails from this point on never responded NOT TO ONE. FInally get a call saying my things were on its way, and they were delivered exactly one week later so in total it took them 3 long weeks to get my thigns to me AND NOT EVEN IN ONE PIECE. My dresser and night stand are chipped and an expensive globe stand and globe were delivered in a bunch of pieces not to mention it was a totally differnt company that delivered my items. Needless to say I am a soon to be military wife and will make sure that I tell everyone as I already have to NEVER use this company. I have made sure to give a horrible review on every website possible and have even called CH 9 News for the whistle blower hotline so hopefully this company will clean up its act or go away all togehter

Everything is being done in our warehouse in MD.) I came across this post, and I am all ways concerned if there is a problem or issue with one of our valued customers moves. Our company moves over a thousand clients per year. If a customer has an issue, we are diligent with following up and attempting to resolve any issue that may arise. Our clients are asked to participate in our own in house customer survey program after each and every move. Senior Management reviews each and every survey, and promptly addresses any issues noted. We are a member of AMSA and are certified as AMSA pro mover. I addition we are a member of the BBB and in good standing. We are willing to discuss the posters concerns if they will contact our office at 1-866-363-7247. Without knowing the particular move referenced in this post, it is difficult to respond or comment. America Van Line has build over the last 5 years a solid reputation with our customers, and we stand by the quality of our work. We offer references from current clients to our potential clients.
I am among the countless SCORNED customers of the AVL Brokers in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Apparently it has been an issue for quite a number of years concerning the misleading use of trade name. For your company's image AND for consumers' sake: WHY hasn't anything been done to clarify this confusion?

Well David, it's now June 9th, 2 months since delivery.Where are my claim papers??? Your are a master of promises who does not deliver. The stress you put on me is unacceptable. Your contractor that delivered didn't even put the feet back on our couches. As far as me putting my Select Comforft bed in the box is a total blatant lie. Your men broke it down and packed it. You tell me how a man with a 3 month recovery from a back surgery packs a bed. David face it, you tell people what they want to hear and after they sign the contract you are off to con another sucker. On a scale of 1-10 your compamnyt rates a-1, not even on the scale. Be forwarned people, David is a charmer but does not follow through. Oh,and about the boxes, your people promised me 2 different deliveries. I had to go get them so we could have a week and a half to pack a 2100sq. ft. townhouse when I could have had 3 weeks. Quit telling lies. I'll take a polygraph, will you?!!!

DO NOT USE AMERICA VAN LINE GO ELSEWHERE. I hired this company for my move from Maryland to Texas. The sales rep Kisha was very friendly and courteous from start to finish. The men who picked up my belongings were also courteous and professional. However, after pick up the nightmare began; it took 7 days to get America Van Line to load my furniture on a truck for shipment. Once the shipment arrived, the driver Jovani was the RUDEST MOST IGNORANT PERSON I have met on this planet. His partner even had to apologize for his behavior as he was shouting at myself and my father throughout the delivery process. He broke several of my belongings, including a marble dining table. When asked why my items were damaged, he gave me nothing but attitude and rude remarks such as "what do you expect me to do about it??" HOW ABOUT NOT DESTROY MY THINGS SINCE I AM PAYING YOU GOOD MONEY!!!!! He left my sofas in a large puddle outside the truck and refused to move it, leaving water marks. Jovani tried to tack on extra fees to get his truck into my complex (as if it is my fault he has to drive an 18 wheeler to get there) and for stairs. I have lodged a complaint with AVL and have heard nothing back, not even the slightest apology from the manager Steven.

DO YOUR VERY BEST NOT TO USE THIS COMPANY. There are so many other movers out there looking for your business and I'm sure someone ANYONE can do a better job than these people.
