Conspiracy case hopes to show how easy PACs can launder payoffs

Full story: San Bernardino County Sun

San Bernardino County prosecutors involved in the conspiracy case against former county Assessor Bill Postmus and Jim Erwin, a former assistant assessor, aim to show how easily political action committees can be used to launder payoffs to public officials.

This whole finger pointing thing at Ramos is really nothing but a deflection of blame. Watch, the more progress he makes, the more propanganda and opposition research is going to be used on him, and his office.

I don't care if who he sleeps with, as long as there is no quid pro quo like the gay supervisor Postmus did with Aleman.

Never was about Ramos, it has always been about 102 million settlement, and the wacky republican machine in San Bernardino.

Big Difference, no doubt $102 million of your dollars is big news.

But we all know that the newspapers when they want too, can write more than one story at a time, even the challenged Sun, can do that.

Rumors about Ramos, sorry far from rumor, confirmed love affairs right up there with Tiger Woods.

Just because Ramos does not have the fortitude to admit it and denies it, does not make it a rumor.

Ramos's questionable conduct does not involve just love affairs.

And for the record the Sun was given lots of documentation about Ramos and they chose to ignore it completely.

Frank Pine and Ramos are buds. Joe Nelson and his associates ask permission first before writing a story.

And Clinton had a BJ performed by a very young intern under the oval office desk(which was a much worse abuse of power in my opinion) and got re-elected so that should tell you how much someone's consensual sex life rates with the public on the importance of an issue when weighed against stealing 102 million dollars. What happened with Ramos, if true, is a matter between him, and his wife. And from what I read, I don't view the alleged mistress as a victim, she made her choice to participate in something she knew was wrong, you have to live with your actions, and she just wants to play the blame game to rationalize what she did wrong rather than accept responsibility,

And if anyone is asking permission to write a story, it is probably so they can be assured they are not writing something that could compromised an on going case....nice try though

I'm glad this article named Sanchez as being present during some of the wheeling and dealing. When do we find out how she was involved? I don't believe for a minute that she is innocent in all this. She had the man living in her house and she sure as hell reaped the benefits of the cash he was getting.

Oh, come on Concerned in Cucamonga, Clinton's escapade involved consenting adults, both of them. His intern was as much an adult as Ramos' alleged girlfriend. A worse abouse of power than being bribed by $100,000? What the heck? As long as a politician keeps his pants zipped he can accept a bribe? I think that explains why San Bernardino County keeps electing criminals. You are so concerned about pants but don't give a durn about honesty, knowledge of the job, experience. You don't care if the guy is a gay meth user as long as he keeps his pants zipped, allegedly. I lived in San Bernardino County for 30 years. It was a sure thing if a candidate yelled low taxes (even if he couldn't deliver) or illegal aliens (even though local officials don't have any power over immigration policy) he would get elected. Over the years I saw, repeatedly, experienced knowedgable people who were not willing to LIE and over promise get defeated by crooks who had no problem lying. Everyone running in law enforcement would bring the crime rate down, never seemed to go down did it? Anyone running for Tax collector or Assessor promised lower taxes, though they couldn't legally deliver. Any one running for the Board of Supes would tell you that they would deal with illegal aliens, improve life for everyone, make all government employees solve all problems. But they never do. They put cronies in as heads of departments alleging they were the best people in the whole world for the job they know nothing about. And the voters in the county just smile and say "show me the sparkly candidate, competence and experience are boring, we want the sparkly lying candidate" As long as the voters pay no attention to competence, honesty, experience, but believe liars you will continue to get crooks ripping you off. I am glad I moved away. After 30 years I moved to Oregon in 2000, best move I ever made.

I have read several of your posts. They are well written and free of obsenity, however I feel you are missing the point. None of these people would have been charged unless the State had stepped in. Several superior court judges wouldn't even allow the DA to charge the Co. Supvsr. or let any of his public records be made available to the public. Sounds fishy doesn't it ??? Next, we dont hear anything about this corruption scandal until 2 or 3 days ago. I wonder if you watched the conference, but if you didn't, Ramos looked like a cow who had the prod in place and the man ( Jerry Brown ) made sure he said exactly what he was supposed to.

See the republican party out here has been real quiet about how they rip and steal the idiots money out here for a long time. That time is over. Ramos will be indicted as well as half the superior court judges in the county, especially the ones who didn't want to press or even hear the cases brought against the crooks.

Who ever thought that Moon-beam Brown could clean up ol-redneck San Butt-dino County. This is so comical, that I could never in my wildest dreams could have seen this coming down the hill like it has.

Right on Payback! I certainly believe Sanchez WAS involved in this mess and is far from innocent. She definitely reaped the benefits (new car, trip to Europe, cruises, etc.) and is a liar and a cheat. However, loyalty is not one of her character traits. She dropped Erwin like a hot potato after the arrest. What a woman! We need to talk Payback....

Uffer had gotten too close to many things and they were getting very nervous. I don't see him mentioned in any of this nonsense so one has to believe that he was finding stinkers in the 5th floor offices of the BOS. My guess is he has Derry's number too and that will be coming out. Word has it that Derry has all kinds of stinky laundry other than the soiled former chief of staff. And then there is the sneaky boy that Postmus trained who never saw a press release he didn't like and sat outside Bill's office for eight years and saw nothing, heard nothing, and knew nothing. Come on Bradley are you asleep, dumb, or just telling us stories?? Pinocchiofelt should be your new name. You will have competition come election time like the others.

this is political corruption that involves theft of great deal ($102.0 million) of tax-money
If you really believe that this was "theft" of $102 million, I would urge you to read the ruling on The Colonies lawsuit aainst the County. If any theft occurred, it was when the County tried to steal land and improvements from a landowner. Review the ruling and see what a Superior Court Judge thought of their actions.
