I bet it was drugs. And I bet she was a good citizen and an asset to her community! The war on drugs is a war to control people and to hastle political opposition.
I don't even know her.

You know, the fact that she has lived a normal life as a part of society surely should carry some weight. She obviously has had no further criminal activity, or she would have been identified by her prints long before this! Why break up a whole family over something so long ago? Who pays? The children! Why not consider something like probation, right here in San Diego? This is absolutely horrific!

For a woman to get 10-20 for drugs all those years ago, she had to be a dealer or involved in a felony murder (like an accomplice or a getaway driver). Sure, she has been a contributing citizen all this time, but that doesn't excuse the fact that she was a serious convicted bad guy all those years ago. And until the last 3 years, CA didn't share electronic data with other states. Now, however, they do. I couldn't renew my license due to a 21-year-old ticket from Arizona that had been dismissed eons ago, but not updated. It was a mess to clean up.

If she would have done her time she would have been out by now. She needs to face her punishment reguardless of having a husband and children. This was going to catch up with her eventually. It's her fault she brought a husband and children into this mess.

I think the Michigan Guv should pardon her given the nature of the circumstances. She's obviously a changed person. While in principle she did break laws, there are people who break the law every day and simply don't get caught. Pardon her and let her get back on with her life without disrupting a good family.

She is a liar, to her husband and their children. You play with fire, you get burned - sooner or later. I feel sorry for her husband.

We have been Marie's neightbors for over 9 years. She is a loving mother, wonderful wife, and a joyous, funny, great neighbor.

Something that happened 34 years ago should not affect or break up a loving family. She was young, and who knows what the circumtances were. She built a terrific family, and every mother has made mistakes. Who amoung us hasn't? Had she not escaped from prison, she would not have had 3 wonderful children who admire, and love her.
No one in their right mind should lock Marie up. Give her credit for all the years that she has lived as a fine citizen, and put an end to this. Society dosn't need this woman locked up, there are far more dangerous things and people that we should worry about than this madness.

Let's FREE MARIE! And do the right thing for this community.

I think consideration should be given to the life she has lived. Youth at times does things without thought to the end result. I feel so bad for her and her family. I will pray that all goes well for her. God Bless , keep your head up high and be proud of what you have accomplished in your life.

Although I sympothize with the plight of her family, and understand that she has been an outstanding citizen upon creating a new identity for herself, one must not forget that she was a felon and committed an act which we all agree was wrong. Regardless of what she has done since, she still needs to be punished for her previous actions. To do so would be an afront to the entire system. Maybe one can argue that she should recieve a lesser sentance due to her current life, however, I would still say that she needs to carry out her punishment in one form or another. Whether that it is a short prison sentance and a long period in probation, or to carry out her sentance in prison, that is up to the state of Michigan to decide.

To those who believe she should be pardoned; do you suggest that every prisoner should aim at escape, and if they evade the law long enough and lead productive lives, they get a free pass? The whole concept of laws and accountability are meaningless in that case!

I bet the US Marshalls wish they had left her alone.

Obviously she has been a good citizen for 32 years. I bet these days she would have not been given a sentence this severe.

I think that Michigan should consider a pardon/parole for her and let her go home to her kids and husband.

IMHO, prisons need more room for violent offenders not some "fugitive" mom.

We have way too many people locked-up in this country for senseless stuff...

Once a con, always a con. How much has he fugitive cost the taxpayers in tracking her down. Add the additional time to her sentence for escape.

prison is more than just wearhousing people, It is to bring people back into line with society, just as your parent punished you, it was to teach you not to do something wrong again, it is rehabilitation, As far as I can read in this story, she has been. No evidences of further criminal activity, she has been a good citizen, led a productive life, and raised children to be the same, What do you want? most people who do their full sentence don't do this good, they continue to repeat, and actually become better criminals from what they learn in prison. Judges had a tenendcy to stack up lots of time back then for drug offences, their own little war on drugs. Justice was not alway blind, but very biased. The prisons are overcrowded, the cost to taxpayers is enormous, and all of you who are crying out for justice have seemingly forgotten a second chance you may have recieved. prison was to correct the broken person(it doesn't work that way though) this person has proven that she is fixed. the ones that are let out now, haven't done that and you are all ok with that, you are all being very vengeful and not using your common senses

What if, she had been a he, had been convicted of some sort of sex-crime, maybe with a underage female, not a child, but an underage female? What if she, or he as it were, then escaped, came here, married a woman, had NO kids, and lived an exemplary life? What if "he" were then caught up in the mad-frenzy to get "pervs" off the street, somehow being snared!

Would the same sentiment be here? Would the same folks who are morally and piously convinced that any and ALL sex offenders,(regardless of charge), should be put away?

This case, probably will go away with some time, some suspended time, then some probabtion! However, the young male from 3 decades ago who had sex with an underage girl who looked and ID'd herself as 18....well, he now is on "the list"!

Then why don't we just let EVERBODY out and see who commits another crime and who doesn't. Repeaters go back in. DUH! Do you understand what kind of chaos we would have? She DID the crime. She finishes her sentence! Maybe she has done MORE crimes and just didn't get caught for those. If she is such a good liar to her husband and knows how to escape and not be found, she IS a career criminal and may have done many more and just got away with them.
