Los Osos Football

As I was watching my daughter play tennis at Los Osos Some of the Football players came through the middle of the tennis courts while they were playing a match. Some of them were being loud and rude saying tennis is a easy sport! I think these guys are just jealous because the girls tennis team won league and the Football team basically SUCKS! Now that's ON THE FIELD. So how about OFF THE FIELD? Take the average G.P.A. of your Football players and the average G.P.A. of your girls Tennis team and you will find out that the girls team have a lot higher average G.P.A. than the Football Team! In all the girls tennis team perform better ON THE FIELD and perform better OFF THE FIELD than the boys Football team. The Football Coaching staff needs to teach these guys some respect for your fellow athletes and make sure these guys are practicing with there helmets-ON? Finally, to the athletic director how about some funding for the Tennis Team? After all they have won league 6 out of the last 7 years!

Overall your right regarding football program at LO high, needs some serious change. However I would stop short of putting the entire football program as I would the entire tennis program in comparison. There are outstanding, committed, top notch individuals in both programs, and then not so much, in both. Due to size of football program those who have little class and performance probably stand out a bit more than they do in tennis.
What do you have today, about 20-24 that make up the entire tennis team in a school of approx 3500?
Funding? Let's be real, it comes down to popularity of sport and activity. Maybe looking at funding per student participating is a better measure. Unfortunately, tennis has been on a decline for a number of years, not only at LO but other area schools and overall as a sport. I have played tennis nearly 40 years, wish it was more main stream. There is a reason LO has a football stadium and the tennis courts have a few spectator benches. Do they even have lighted courts at LO? Also, if not mistaken I think the coach is not even part of staff. Try to find infor on LO tennis program on line or in newspaper. Before funding need to create demand for the program.
