I agree, but they will remain inside and eat 3 meals a day. AND receive better health care than our citizens out here.

the health care thing is a lie you have to be seriously ill to be seen by a doctor, a nurse will see you first to determine if you need medical attention. anyone can go to an emergency room or dial 911.
btw i'm not on the inmates side i still bellieve the department of corrections should enforce a " no warning shot " policy. anyone stupid enough to get involved in a negative subculture sould accept the cosequences.

You know what, they should build a mega prison out in needles that could house 20k prioners. no air conditioner for the prison population.

The transition of Heman G. Stark Youth Correctional Facility to an adult facility was inevitable. Although Heman G. Stark, YCF has been described as the flagship for the Division of Juvenile Justice, it has been plagued with corruption, incompetent leadership, and a staff murder. Additionally there is a civil rights trial scheduled for January 2010 centering on a single peace officer molesting and raping wards for over 7-years. Dozens upon dozens of wards filed grievances and complaints with little or no action by the leadership. If the complaints were investigated, the investigations were poor at best with predetermined outcomes of not sustaining the allegations. In the end, the wards suffered, the staff suffered, and the public suffered from the incompetence and corruption by the leadership and the investigators who investigated these claims. It is time for the Heman G. Stark Youth Correctional Facility to go.

why can't we just have them life in tents out in the middle of no where. have them work for their food, shelter, and clothing. why do the tax payers have to take care of them better then we do ourselves? lets us our tax money on us. they are criminals. just give them the basic to survive. 98% of them did not go to prison for the first time and i'm sure not making an illegal left turn.

I was thinking the same thing. Lots of wide open secluded land in the high desert. Coming back from Vegas just as you enter the California side I saw this huge patch of land and even said to my wife; "This is where they should build some ultra mega prison and shut down all the old facilities since many are outdated and located in very highly populated cities."

were talking about kids here. I know that criminals shouldn't be well taken care of, but just because your behind bars doesn't make you a killer. There are people falsely convicted, adults and children, you think they should be treated like animals. Facilities such as these can turn a once innocent child/adult into a cold hearted soul. Don't get me wrong prisoners should be punished but it's up to the government to decide if the punishment fits the crime and more times then most it doesn't. Just some food for thought

I WAS AN INMATE AT CALIFORNIA YOUTH AUTHORITY FOR 5 1/2 YEARS BECAUSE OF A STUPID SCAM WE PLAYED ON A STUDENT WHILE I WAS IN HIGH SCHOOL. ME N A FREIND TOLD ANOTHER GUY WHO WAS ASKING EVERYONE IF THEY KNEW WERE TO BUY DRUGS WE TOLD HIM WE HAD SOME HE GAVE US 40 BUCKS WE TOLD HIM WE WOULD COME BACK WITH IT AND NEVER SHOWED UP. HE WAS PISSED CALLED THE COPS SAID WE ROBBED HIM WITH A SCREWDRIVER TO SCARE HIM. HE DIDNT MENTION THE DRUGS SO I WAS SENT THERE FOR 7 1/2 YEARS SUPPOSE TO DO 2 AND DID 5 BECAUSE OF CROOKED GUARDS FILING FALSE REPORTS. 98% OF THEM ARE CORRUPTED. U HAVE NO IDEA OF THE TORTURE THE COLD-HEARTED GUARDS INFLICT UPON WARDS. FROM NOT GETTING UR GAURANTTED 3 MEALS. NOTHINGS GUARANTEED. YOUR AN ANIMAL IN A CAGE WITH NO HUMAN RIGHTS. MACED EXCESSIVELY UNDER THE DOOR OF YOUR CELL AND LEFT TO BURN FOR HOURS WITH YOUR SKIN PEELING OFF ON YOUR FACE AND THATS JUST THE TIP OF THE ICEBERG. I AM PART OF THE 2% THAT DID NOT REOFFEND CAUSE I KEPT MY INSANITY IT TAKES A REALLY STRONG MIND. I AM NOW A STUDENT AT CALIFORNIA STATE UNIVERSITY AND AM A DIFFERENT PERSON. THE REASON FOR THIS IS TO SHOW HOW IGNORANT PEOPLE CAN BE TO WHATS GOING ON AND PRE-JUDGING PEOPLE. these kids are teenagers that have made mistakes they need to be rehabilitated not shoved in cages, beaten, and forgot about.when they get released they have become worse then when they went in. so really sociality isnt any safer were worse because now they have been treated like animals for so long they really dont care.the abuse in these facilities are terrible and theres no excuse for this treatment.the officers are big fucking bullies and they know no matter how abusive they get they will always get away with it.so before you say let them sleep in the shit remember they are still kids and need help not abuse.

I was in CYA from 1962-1968 Nellis and YTS I will tell you this is a game changer in lifes outcome. Not a day goes by that I do not remember these years. I have three sons and have worked hard to provide a life for us. Thank GOD all three have been free of crime and detention. One important part of this success was my moving to Washington State. I do not think I would have done this in Ca.
