Some of you are really evil, to say a 20 year old man should rot in hell for an accident that wasn't his intention. I'm not saying he shouldn't be punished, but to ask for the worst possible time? I'm sure he's learning his lesson right now. The good man who's life was taken is a lesson to everyone. Our time here is short, and no matter how long travis goes to jail it won't bring that good mans life back. I hope everyone drives a bit safer after this story. And find forgiveness in your hearts.

You're kidding me, right?

Gotta love that theory. No personal responsibility, since it's God's fault.

Is your pisspoor grammar God's doing, too? I guess it's not your fault you're stupid -- let's blame God everybody!

This particular comment from Tom Morrow really bothered me. It's obvious and understandable how upset everyone is. Those who knew Kevin but also those who know Travis. When something like this happens, EVERYONE is effected, on both sides, friends and family of both involved. I appreciate the others who commented here, talking about Kevin, what he was like and why he will be missed. I believe those are the people who truly loved and cared for him and understand that Travis will not only have to live w/what he has done and the pain he has caused but what he knew as his Life is OVER, as is Kevins. Pain and anger run like wild fire through tragic events such as this and Konnie should not be ignored, humiliated or insulted for expressing feelings for Travis regardless of spelling and grammer. Retard? Really Tom? Says so much about how you handle life...kick someone while they're down to make your point and make you feel better. This whole situation is ugly and brings out the worst in some people. Prayers are needed for everyone involved.

Dear Retard,
The legal amount for drink driving is 0.08%, so if he was 0.4%, he was snot-flying-drunk.
The reason that he was not arrested, is because SBPD does not arrest those that have ties to the community, so that they do not have to pay the county for the time their arrestee is in county lockup.
They did the same thing to the 20 year old that ONCE AGAIN went over the line while driving recklessly last June. They charged him 5 months later. They have a year to do their investigations, the reenactment, and press charges.
Travis is NOT a "Little Boy"... he is an ADULT.
And Konnie, crack open a freakin' dictionary once in a while. If this is what your resume or work product looks like, you have a lifetime of welfare paperwork to fill out, and spelling helps.

It always amazes me here on Topix, when someone commits an egregious crime, no matter how heinous, the friends and family of the perpetrator rise out of the primordial goo to defend someone that historically has proved themselves to be the turd in the proverbial punchbowl of society.

The old adage applies: "It is better to be thought a fool, than to open your mouth, and remove all doubt"

Travis May:

12/9/2007 DISORDERLY CONDUCT:PERSON UND INFLUENCE OF ALCOH/DRUGS

10/5/2008 DISORDERLY CONDUCT:PERSON UND INFLUENCE OF ALCOHOL AND/OR DRUGS

10/5/2008 FIGHTING;NOISE;OFFENSIVE WORDS

7/27/2009 INFLICT CORPORAL INJURY ON SPOUSE/COHABITANT

Obviously, old Trav has the learning curve that's clearly flatlined. Good for him that he's no stranger to the system. He will know what to say to the judge, and I'm sure he's now "pulled a Lohan" and dived into whatever rehab program he can find, because as we all know, they "looks better" to a judge and jury.

Just to prove my point, see the link below.

Nitwit brother is ramming a car from behind, IN A PUBLIC CAMPGROUND and then tips own car over, killing his brother who WAS HANGING OUT THE WINDOW throwing things at the other car.

Nitwit brother, kills his brother when his truck rolls over, and see how quickly his friends and family defend them. BOTH had priors. Surviving brother lives, and gets another alcohol offense BEFORE HE BECOMES LEGAL drinking age. So, he didn't learn either. And he's back on the road, likely to commit another injury/fatal DUI.

Wow, Konnie, you apparently don't know much about the law: ANY alcohol in an underaged driver = DUI. You might also want to take an English class or two & work on your spelling.

To Sam Adams: Are you sure this is the right Travis May, did you get this from the county's court website? Just curious. BTW, I agree w/you.

Hello,

I read your letter to the editor on rimoftheworld.net & I couldn't agree more. I looked Travis May up in the open access court, and he isn't even in there! http://206.169.61.205/openacce ss/default.asp
It sounds like Mr. May may have some relatives in law enforcement or other high places, otherwise, why would he not even be arrested at the scene?! CHP have no problem targeting people walking home from the Bear Claw, but when an underaged drunk driver kills someone, they let him go???? I'd be interested to find out what is going on with this case & you seem invested, so I thought I'd ask.

It's there:

FSB1103699

As well as his previous cases - yes, he's a "frequent flyer" in the law and justice system... no surprise there, I guess.

CHP wasn't the handling agency, San Bernardino PD was. They - SBPD - typically don't arrest at-scene injured at-fault drivers that need hospitalization. Probably because they don't want the bill from the County for the extended lockup time until the blood alcohol and tox tests come back in 7-30 days time.

Same thing happened to the other knucklehead that killed a driver in the same general area 2 years ago, and those hispanic kids that spun-out drunk near the "SB National Forest" sign at the bottom of the hill the year before that, and killed 2 in their own car.

Dave is right. If a suspect is hospitalized, most law enforcement agencies will wait unti he/she gets released to arrest them. If they're in-custody, that agency has to pay for the medical bills.

Where is Travis NOW, all you Travis supporters??

He's in lockup, where I am sure his "third level doosher" attitude is being squelched each and every day...

None of you know him like I do to sit there and have your mind set on who you think he is. Im sorry for what happened but my friend isn't who you say he is. He is a friend who will be there for you no matter what. He has the best shoulder to cry on and no matter how sad you are he can make you smile. He cares for the ones he loves with kindness and compassion. He didn't mean to do this, we may be in our 20s but we are still kids we make dumb ass decisions. Travis didnt make the best ones but he was always a great person and one mistake doesn't ruin that god will forgive his child. All of you have done things that were horrible and I bet some were on purpose. So before you sit there and say all this let me tell you this. Travis may took me in when I had no one and a horrible childhood. I was lost and was doing the wrong things in life. he took me in and showed my what a real family was like made his family mine and they treated me like a sister like a daughter. Travis never turned his back on me and I wont turn my back on him. Just like kevin he is loved too. Im sure if kevis could speak he would say to forgive him. od says to forgive

"He didn't mean to do this..."

Look at his past court records.

He is either retarded, and did not learn from his past mistakes, or he just didn't care about anyone other than himself.

I vote for option #2

Exactly, I was pulled over and charged with wet wreckless driving in crestline at the age of 20 with a BAC of 0.06% so how can u say this adult... not a young boy time to grow up at age 20 and take responsibilty and should've been thrown in jail that night. He killed someone, and from what I hear a good, kind man, and should be punished just like everyone else.

Woman-Beater and serial drunk driver Travis May got 6 years in State Prison this week for killing Mr. Garland. His little Myspace videos and pictures of him "hauling-ass on Highway 18" showed the judge that he was also a serial reckless driver.

Now in prison, his ass will once again be on his mind. It will just be overhauled by bubba.
