This was not an accident! I have no forgiveness for Travis May, the driver who purposefully decided speed and drinking was more important that safety and another person's life. He Killed Kevin Garland! This puts a tremendous hole in the community and tears the hearts of all of us who knew Kevin personally. Whether we remember Kevin in terms of Fifes & Drums, Civil Air Patrol, Church, Community leader, or just a fantastic family man. As long as I've known Kevin and the family and all of the wonderful work he had done with youngsters and in the community as a whole. There was so much more I wanted to know about Kevin and I though I had many years ahead to do so. I was looking forward to seeing the youngest boy become as grownup and successful as his two brothers but with Kevin leading them all the way. What a loss. Kevin, you are loved and will be deeply missed.

I really don't know what to say but feel like sharing something from the east coast. I grew up with Kevin Garland in Williamsburg, Virginia. We played in a few bands together during and shortly after high school. He was a great guy back then and I am sure this will leave a "tremendous hole in the community" as B Black wrote. May God bless your family Kevin. Sadly submitted, Jamie.

Kevin was one of the most wonderful people I had ever met. He elevated each person he met to do the best they can do. I shed so many tears when I heard the news about his death. My condolences to his family and many many friends.

Kevin was such a wonderful man, this situation angers me very much! For a 20 year old boy to be driving at such high rates of speed on a curvy street like that and alcohol to be a possible factor and no arrest to be made is just not right! He took away such a great man to his family, friends, and his job..my prayers go out to his family.

im sorry for the loss of kevin, but for people to write comments like that about travis is b.s because what everyone dosent know is he was a great kidd and this was NOTTT purposly done. and not only is kevins family traumatised but also a little boys life has been ruined and my heart goes out to the young boys family also.
and he did not get arrested because the alcohol in his system was only 0.4 and there is no possible way he was speeding as much as the paper says around that corner.
he was nott drunk wat so ever..some people are being so ridiculous especially when they dont know the whole true story about the horrible disaster.
im truely sorry to kevins friends and familyy, but please dont sit there and down talk this amazing young boy. thank youu

Dear Retard,

The legal amount for drink driving is 0.08%, so if he was 0.4%, he was snot-flying-drunk.

The reason that he was not arrested, is because SBPD does not arrest those that have ties to the community, so that they do not have to pay the county for the time their arrestee is in county lockup.

They did the same thing to the 20 year old that ONCE AGAIN went over the line while driving recklessly last June. They charged him 5 months later. They have a year to do their investigations, the reenactment, and press charges.

Travis is NOT a "Little Boy"... he is an ADULT.

And Konnie, crack open a freakin' dictionary once in a while. If this is what your resume or work product looks like, you have a lifetime of welfare paperwork to fill out, and spelling helps.

Retard?, this is actually her daughter wrighting nott konnie
so i have a reason to be a little off on my spelling, i am only 13 years old and i happen to know what a wonderful person and god fearing christian Travis actually is. and if ur saying the legal limit to driving after drinking is 0.08 then urrrr a retard because what ii said was 0.04% and u can get that amount from drinking ny-quil.
i might be young but i am not stupid..
i pray for both familys cuz God said too..and more people should be a little more christian like dont you think?
i know the truth behind this story, so i would prefer u not to spread lies. and thats soo not true about him being drunk, cuz if that were the case he sure in the heck would have been arrested right then..
and once again God bless both families

In California, if you're under 21 with a BAC of 0.01% or greater then it's a DUI. He was legally drunk if his BAC was in fact "only" 0.04.

Amen! Accidents happen. I am sorry for Kevin's friends and family but also for Travis' family. They have a lot on their shoulders too. Their little boy is going to be arrested and who knows how long he'll be gone. His little sister won't get to see and talk to him everyday. He's a great kid, he made a mistake and someones life was taken because of it, but that doesn't mean that it's easy for him to deal with either.

Well, Travis won't be "gone" as long as Kevin will be from his children and family. They won't get to "see and talk" to him bc of the selfish choices your good boy Trav made.

i happened to have lost my husband in a drunk driving accident as well. i have no remorse for that boy. he should have been arrested. he had alcohol in his system. even if it wasnt .08 hes still under the legal drinking age. he deserves to do time. i know how hard it is to lose someone. that boys family can cry all they want. kevins family will never see him again. travis deserves the worst possible time the are willing to give him.

And if the Police investigation finds your little Trav was negligent due to reckless driving and alcohol, may he rot in hell. Hope to see him there one day.

I hope Travis is starting those special backend stretching techniques.

The men at Chino state always like the young ones.

Also, have him look-up and practice "pruno recipies" on Google. That should give him an edge.
