Mazur always struck me as weird... he was funny, but creepy as hell. I feel bad for his kids.

If these allegations are true, he was absolutely in the wrong-- whether the "relationship" was consensual or not. If these allegations are true, what his wife did, was commendable. If his wife had not turned him in, and no one else had reported this misconduct, he would have gotten away with a crime...and who's to say it would't happen again?
Everyone here needs to get over the "consensual" issue. If she were 18, it would have been consensual -- she was 16, and that makes it criminal.
However, this is only my personal opinion, and we live in a nation where you are innocent until proven guilty. We all need to wait it out, and let justice take it's course...

I really liked Mr. Mazur but he did wrong by all. He was a teacher and an adult. He knew better. What the young lady did was wrong but it still falls on Mr. Mazur. No excuses. He destroyed a lot of wonderful things that were going on in the district. The Orchestra as we all new it is forever gone. It's a very sad time in a lot of our lives. I hope that the families can recover from all of this.

Mazur was an inspiring teacher. When you spend 15-20 years surrounded by teenagers who each year get a little wiser than the last year and start to not LOOK like teenagers anymore, I mean geesh, it's only a matter of time before anyone starts to let those thoughts creep up in to their mind. He's 51, maybe made to feel young again. It certainly isn't morally correct what happened, but it certainly doesnt make him a monster. It means he gave in to weakness.

i had the fortune of knowing tom over 30 years ago and to this day i have not met someone as dedicated and inspirational.he was one of the few if not only teachers that not only taught but made the process fun for all involved. if every teacher had his energy and dedication, more students would be inspired to pursue their dreams whether in music, science or any other area. unfortunately, it sounds like he and his wife were not getting along and this controversy has spun out of control. it is a shame the educational system is quick to throw out such talent because of their liability and not because of facts. apparently, nothing has been proved and the only person mad (literally)and upset is his ex-wife. the rest is all conjecture and circumstantial....

I am sick and tired of everyone judging
what the man and the girl deserves.
You all have no idea how much this orchestra meant for me and many others.
It's not the same without Mazur.
Yes it was a wrong thing for him and the girl. But we're all human. So stop with your judgment if you have not known these people well.
And I just don't understand why Mazur had to be taken away from the orchestra and the district.
One teacher from Chaffey (I won't mention is name) told me,
"You know why I moved out from Chaffey? Cause I heard the story about Mazur and I don't want his reputation to rub off on me. I don't want anything to do with it."
He is NOT a disease. If you didn't do anything wrong then you don't have to be afraid or say something like that.
My life is in turmoil right now still. I was a proud member of the orchestra and loved it with all my heart. The first time I saw this orchestra was when I was in 6th grade honor orchestra at a concert. Since then, my dream was to just be apart of this amazing high school orchestra. My life isn't that great. And this was one thing that just made me WANT to live. But they had to take Mazur away along with the orchestra?( I know theres another orchestra right now but it's not the same.) I'm not speaking just for myself. But for all the beloved members.
This may hurt Mazur and the girl, but it's hurting all of the orchestra members now.
I have heard this news the moment it came out. All this time, I was still in depression and didn't know what words to say. But now I do.
I'm angry. I'm hurt. At the case and the district people who hated orchestra so much.
All you cared about was the money and getting what you want.
YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHAT MY LIFE IS LIKE BECAUSE OF YOU PEOPLE.
Those who don't give a damn about what I'm saying, I pray to God that
nothing/no one special is taken away from you.

Tom,
you were a great teacher. Always will be in my mind. These allegations dont make sense. I hope they are not true and I dont believe them. Some women are vicious. Goodluck with everything.

Tom,

You should also know that some of your student went on to do great things, partly because of you.

I was in orchestra at Montclair High 2000-2004 and I also attended the night class at Chaffey high school. Mr. Mazur was a horrible teacher and also a fraud. He collect hundereds and even thousands of dollars from students for trips that we never took. My dying grandmother donated all kinds of money for these trips and we did car washes and fundraisers. We never went on any trips that we were promised and raised a ton of money for. All of the money I personally raised and had donated vanished into some account Mr. Mazur had "set up" for me. I never saw a dime of that money again and we never used it for any trips. I was told that the students that went to Chaffey could use their money for events and such at their school but I was unable to use mine. Besides taking our money Mr. Mazur was also very inappropriate with students and told some very inappropriate and racists jokes to his students. It is unfortunate that people like Tom Mazur are aloud in our school systems. If I ever see him again I would probably be so embarrassed that I even know this disgusting excuse for a human being that I would immediately turn and walk away from him as fast as I can.
