And, isn't it true that quite a few of these states have turned to legalizing medical marijuana and the hefty taxes raised on it to help balance their budgets?
Further, yesterday, the American Medical Association — the U.S.'s largest and most influential medical association — passed a new policy stance calling for a government review of marijuana’s legal status. |

This is the most widely underreported story in America. This is what happens when public-sector unions set the agenda for pay and benefits. The level of abuse in California is staggering. The state just imposed an additional 10% income tax, which it says is temporary until taxpayers file their returns, as if the state's fiscal woes will turn around by April.
It is a cautionary tale, one ignored by Columbus, Franklin County and state elected officials. Hey California - we're right behind you. |

What crap. What happened to California was that a bunch of idiot dirtbag right wingers got a referendum passed that allows one third of the legislature to block revenue increases -- which is not only undemocratic (majority rule, anyone?) but appallingly stupid policy. One thing killing states is Medicaid costs, but how you deal with that is a huge challenge. Medicaid covers old people in nursing homes, the disabled and the poor who have no other recourse. Ending it or cutting it is the act of a pig. Although we have plenty of pigs on this comment board. |

You are not a lawyer. You are a full colostomy bag. If you were a lawyer, you'd be busy screwing some little guy/gal out of what ever they had left and not poking yourself here. Float back to the sewage plant were you feel most at home. |

For an alleged lawyer, you sure have a foul mouth and a limited vocabulary. I don't think I've ever seen one post from you that didn't result in calling someone a name. Take a nap, valium, time-out - whatever calms your savage nerves.
As for the subject at hand, how is the world's seventh largest economy not able to pay its bills? Illegals take $4 out of the state for every $1 they put back in. That's clearly part of the problem. And you blame it on Republicans? Oh brother. Are there any left in California? Arnold, you say? Please, he's weaker than Gray Davis, who was recalled for being a union puppet. Whatever law school you claim you went to, remind me to tell people not to enroll there. |
