Taft, Tx Mayoral election

Well, the Taft 2009 Mayoral Elections are underway. Recently Mayor Rivera sent out a campaign mailer that must have cost thousands of tax payer dollars. Other than being filled with in-acuracy (lies) it was full of gramatical errors. The congressional pictures is just another indication of mis-managed tax payer dollars. He attended a nice party in Washington at the tax payers expense. What added value to the City of Taft did it bring? The answer is NONE. In fact you can check with Taft ISD and find out for yourself that he did the same thing with tax payer ISD money. Citizens of Taft! You only have one choice in this election and it is not Mayor Rivera.

I voted for this guy because I thought it would be nice to finally have a Hispanic Mayor in town. Boy, was I wrong. I wonder how long it will take to undo the corruption and loss of funds that he has led us through. What a waste of two long years.

The mayor hired a municapal judge who has been bankrup like 7 times, doesn't pay his bills, let his wife sit in jail a few years back for hot checks they wrote. This is sad. To make it worse he is using his position as judge to get the young kids to vote by telling him he will dismiss their tickets if they vote for Rivera. Now the judge has a casino and is selling alcohol there. You can thank the mayor for this when he voted to change the ordinance to allow "pool tables" in town. I am still waiting to play pool.

I am ashamed of my hispanic heritage right now and I give credit to Mr. Vega for taking the high road by not being ugly and spreading rumors and lies. He certainly has my vote and the vote of the majority of the hispanic people. Even lots of Riveras own relatives aren't voting for him.

Word has it that Rudy Mirabal was driving people to City Hall to vote that had an address using his Red Barn and the Donut Palace; this was confirmed by Poll Watchers (happened today 04/29/09). Just so that everyone knows, this is Mayor Rivera's puppet master. Filiberto is so indebted to this guy.

Filiberto if you are reading this, you know you are soooo busted. It is only a matter of time before your JIG is up. I hope that Mayor Vega brings in some auditors to audit City's spending for the last two years. I am 100% certain that you, Rudy and Mr. Sauceda will spend some time in jail. My father always taught me that you have to fight for what you believe in,no matter how hard the battle, and that sometimes things happen for a reason. Well our reason to fight is here now, and we 'The People Of Taft' have canidates who are willing to put themselves in the trenches for us, and they can't do it alone. It is time for us to unite for the sake of our town, and for each other. I wish I was there to help out. I am working out of town, but you can bet that my vote will get cast 2 weekends from now for Bobby vega. It has been a long two years of nothing but corrupted people running out poor little town. The wreckless spending will take years to correct. I have never been involved in the day to day happenings at the city, but Taft is my home and I can no longer stand by and watch DUMB people like Filiberto, Lucy & Martin take our community in down with their narrow-mindedness and communist ways. Everyone knows that Filiberto is a coccaine user, who does he think he is fooling?

I want to thank M Rodriguez for hitting the nail on the head saying that Filiberto is a cocaine user. I use to work for Taft and would see him at drug dealers houses all the time. Its just a matter of time that these people are going to get busted for wasting tax payers money. The residents of Taft need to step up and find out what the city is doing with the money. If nobody steps up, they are going to keep doing it, waste tax payers money by taking unnecessary trips.

Hey! what day is the elections? I want to vote. I want to vote for an empty seat for mayor since all running mates in this elections are selfish and unsocialable. If there was 1 individual who had the guts to stand up for his/her self to be a discipline leader in taft with honorable respect I vote for that individual. I know politics is hard but a respectable mayor should be our elected leader. Everyone related in office, come on! stand up for yourselves and be real leaders.

Hey, I am not going to pass judgement yet, when one person says something the message isn't for everyone ears, but if your bothered by what I wrote there's must be some of the same attitude in you like the officials running Taft right now. Its that type of behavoir that starts bad politics to spill over in the community since you think your one-minded opinions are going to solve the problems in Taft. You already pass judgement on Taft officials and Mr Salcidos unforturnate learning disabilities(shame on you). I did'nt have to go to peprally the whole town could hear it, one after another tearing down each other with what bad things the opponets have done. 20 bad out of 1 good deed, where's the pep in that rally. There are many good standing leaders in Taft let's make sure we vote for him/her. Chill!

You are right, there are many good standing leaders and hopefully Taft citizens will go out and vote for them. I know the people in office right now and trust me when I say they are there for their own agendas. They are not there for the citizens of Taft. They are corrupt and have wasted a lot of tax payer's money. If you are from Taft you would know this. As for Coche like I said if you were from Taft you would know that it is someone making fun and it's not really him.

sad to say, yes coche is a real person, who with some help makes him sound under educated. It is people like him, that the mayor and rudy use to do their dirty deeds, because they don't know any better. They make them feel important and useful which otherwise they would have no use for them. They promise protection,work, drugs, money, no citations etc.. It should not matter what gender or race holds office, so long as they do whats right, and benefits the town as awhole. And no one should say they feel ashamed to be hispanic because of the wrong doing of another, that person is on an ego trip, and he is about to fall flat on his ass. mayor's partner apoligizes for putting wrong early voting times, what are the odds of that? everyone better make sure you go vote may 3 through 9 from 8am to when ever they close, pass the word people, don't let ignorance stop the voting process. If you don't know your registered or not show up and ask and cast your vote. If anyone tells you no, make sure to ask why and provide proof why you can't vote since your are part of the city now and don't wait til 11pm for Washington permission at least you cast your vote.

Let's change Taft for the better of our community. Allow the citizens of Taft to voice their opinion & give them a chance to speak their mind without throwing them out just because they are against something. How is it that the Mayor, Lucy, & Martin agree on EVERY SINGLE ITEM??? They NEVER disagree on ANYTHING. Are they clones? Hey Coche...did Martin type your comment? You know, some people have a hard time speaking English or writing or reading (like Martin)..and no we should not judge them, BUT these people SHOULD NOT be holding a council seat if they can not read the agendas or even understand what is read. I'm sure if he understood, he too would vote against the Mayor and Lucy.
