Fear of new ban on some semiautomatic weapons drives gun, ammo ...

Full story: El Paso Times

Concern that the Obama administration could impose a new ban on some semiautomatic weapons is driving worried gun owners to stockpile ammunition and cartridge reloading components at such a rate that manufacturers can't meet demand.

Thanks for not answering my question and responding in a bombastic way.

Oh and one more question. Are all gun enthusiasts as edgy as you are?

The guy never mentioned wal-mart in his post. When you mention retard, are you referring to yourself? Just curious.

So that somebody gives you a straight answer, I'll try: Fully auto weapons are designed for fear, terror, and mayhem. But they are not really that lethal. They are very difficult to control and aim while in full auto mode. The military uses them to provide enough return fire to keep enemy heads down during an advance. A "spray" of fire in an area will cause most to take cover. That's the desired effect, not to actually shoot anyone in particular. Even a "real" machine gun needs to be mounted on a tripod in a nest or on a mount, for anything that would resemble accuracy. They ARE dramatic, as evidenced in the movies, and do instill terror. That's why the bad guys like them.

I love how Mexican drug cartels exist because some guns are made in the United States. This according to CNN and MSNBC.

Are members of the Mexican drug cartels beheading people with guns? Or would that be done with a knife?

Let's ban spoons too, afterall, they cause diabetes, heart disease, and cancer - all killers!

I hardly think they will ban their use for these departments. So would you agree civilians have no purpose for these weapons?

Thanks for your answer. I understand now why gang members use them also because they don't care about aiming straight just shooting and dramatic affect. I don't understand why we have ever sold ammo publicly if the weapons are illegal.

Plus guns sales have soared like gasoline prices. I hardly think the ammo people will have to fear bankruptcy. I am so tired of the fear tactics the media and companies use for dramatic affect. We could benefit from being conservative with our spending and save. The government and media report we should spend, spend, spend......i think that is what got many people in the shape they are in and if they continue on that path a lot more foreclosures will happen.

I apologize for ranting on, but some of these issues lack total common sense.

Apparently you think there are two types of "ammo": automatic and non-automatic.
I suggest you educate yourself before posting on topics of which you have zero knowledge.

Also, fully automatic weapons are not "illegal."

There is no reason to ban semi-auto weapons. Many are used for personal protection, shooting competitions and for hunting. For Automatic weapons. " weapon that has the capability of shooting more than two rounds automatically with a single function of the trigger",short barreled rifles, and silencers they are illegal for anyone to own unless you go thru the proper steps which include back ground checks, fingerprints, etc and have to go thru local, state,ATF,FBI and others. Make sure that you know what law abiding citizens use these guns for before jump the gun and ruin it for myself and fellow gun owners, sportsmen, and hunters

Mercury's retro phase in Capricorn will raise questions in your mind about a friend or loved one during the next two weeks. You might wonder what they're playing at and have to ask them to be straight with you, or you could work hard at overcoming the current problems between you so you're able to enter a much more positive phase in your relationship.
