Was down the shore yesterday... Carlson's is gone! All that's left is a hole in the dirt with a fence around it...
What's going on with this property? I can't find anything.... does anyone know?
We were so sad to see such an important landmark gone from our favorite beach...
If anyone knows.. please post. We're all crossing our fingers that they'll be back...

I used to hang out in the upstairs of that stand. I bet they will re-do a similar stand but it won't be the same.

I ate at the new Carlson's Corner on Monday, 7-6-09. It was god but not the same. I ordered a "cheese with" (cheeseburger with fired onions) as I have been for 30+ years and the young girl was like "what?" The cheeseburger came on a hard roll with sliced instead of diced onions. It was expensive also. The building is similar and the grill is in the back now. The girl said it was new owners but same management. I want the old Carlson's back!

I am one of the new carlsons corner owners. you are one of a couple people who have said "with" when ordering your burger since we have been open. There are many different things a burger can come "with". We are still in the midst of trianing some people and some kids have returned form the previous carlsons. I can assure you that carlsons is run much cleaner and safer for customers now that we have let zoras lease terminate. The bulding wasnt fit for service anymore and codes were violated left and right. we have developed the new building to last another 75 years so the legacy will continue. I have added healthier choices to the menu as well as kept the same options as the last menu. We hope to see you agaion and one suggestion. To make your next visit more pleasent, you may choose between the dehydrated sodium filled onions with preservatives, or fresh sauteed onions like it was back when freddy carlson ran it. same onions were used when it was randy's in the 30's. if you have any questions or concers email me at evamoroso@gmail.co. everyone have a wonderful day.

I said I would never work at Carlson's although I have been going to Manasquan since I was born, I am now 50 years old and I did end up working at Carlson's around 1977 to 1981 . I took many orders and also worked the pad. The burgers came 4 ways: The plain (burger with no onions and cheese) The With (Onions and no cheese) The Cheese Plain( Cheese and no onions) and the Cheese With( Cheese and Onions). To tell a plain from a with the pickle was on top of the bun on a plain and the with had the pickle on the burger.
My kids still love the new Carlson's but they have me make the original Carlson's burger at home. One last thing is that we all had a blast working at Carlson's and I wish the new owners the best and hope Carlson's Corner will always be part of the Manasquan Inlet.

I just happened to be checking out Manasquan Beach on Google Earth. It was my father's favorite beach to take me, my brother, and my friends throughout the 60's. I fondly remember Carlson's Corner. It was the source for snacks and burgers on our trips to the beach. I'd kill to go back in time for one of those greasy grilled cheeseburgers WITH, a rootbeer, and a frozen malted-milk candy bar (remember those?) The wooden sandy covered floor under my bare feet. I recall a screen door slamming shut at the entrance. Such fond memories! I'm delighted that a newer version has been built! Next trip to The Shore (I'm stuck in crappy Texas now) I'll definately make a return trip!

Are you people for real? Great backpeddle new owners... The place is a pit hole with new siding. The food is overcooked and to tell you the truth when Freddy died 30 yars ago so did Carlson's. There has been 12 owners since he died. Start your own name and mark in the business instead of living on the past with a dead man...You people need to catch up with the present and stop living in a tasteless food world. Just because you went there when you were a ignorant kid dosn't mean it's the same food, HELLO!! They had to clean it up because the legacy died 11 owners ago.

Daily Horoscope for December 24

Virgo

You're struggling to get everything finished in time today, making you feel fractious and tired. At some point you may have to take a pragmatic decision about which tasks must be completed today and which will have to be postponed until another day. Do your best to keep things in proportion otherwise you'll waste time in trivial details and needless nit-picking.
