...wondering the same thing...the article mentions young people in the house...wouldn't they be getting ready for school? the article also mentions a lot of people, a mom, a brother, an uncle...why would someone attempt to rob a house in full morning daylight, when people in the neighborhood are getting ready for work/school and when there seem to be a lot of people in that particular house? There's either something else to the story or people are getting even crazier and taking crazier risks. Either way, it's scary.
I agree I think there is more to the story I am a mother and i cant believe she ran out of the house and left the kids in there I would have went right to my kids to make sure they were safe and also alot of people were up and around at that time and so far no one has stepped up to say they seen anything I think something is fishy.

"I ran to the front door and screamed for my uncle, and then I ran back to the bedroom and got my girls," she said.

Please, by all that is holy, grab yourself at minimum a high school education. Believe it or not, a GED is not something you need penicillin for.

Still, I feel do feel a little guilty for calling you out specifically when there were so many previous posters who also apparently delight in displaying their lack of education and hateful attitudes toward anyone and anything that isn't exactly like them. Yes, the comment about betting a paycheck it wasn't a native-born citizen is, in fact, racism in all it's shining glory. You don't have to be talking about someone's skin color to qualify for that prize, little children. After all, everyone knows that native-born citizen never do anything despicable, right? Well, except for that guy in Asheboro up on charges for kiddie porn...oh, and that guy in Ramseur up on charges for drugs...oh yeah, and that girl who robbed that bank. But I'm sure they were just isolated incidents, right? It's absolutely those foreign-born weirdos we have to look out for! Congratulations to everyone who participated in showcasing the ignorance that encourages every caricature and bad stereotype of the people of North Carolina.

Personally, as a citizen in this particular area, I'm a little more concerned with the fact that a young woman was assaulted in a home she and her family thought was safe than where the criminal might possibly have been born. I'm concerned about a member of my community and her family, and how they're sleeping tonight. I'm concerned that my children live, play, and go to school in this community. I'm concerned because it takes a particular level of mental malfunction to go into a house occupied by people and assault someone, and that makes this person very dangerous to everyone in our community. I'm concerned that I might have some of you as neighbors, and I really don't have any faith in your willingness to help me or anyone else, particularly if we don't fit your image of a worthwhile person. I'm concerned because while you may think that the sort of comments I see on here are harmless...and that you wouldn't really act the way your comments suggest...words have weight and meaning, and they become our beliefs and then our actions. Be careful, little children, what you say - remember that song? There's a reason we teach it to our children. Maybe we need to teach it to the adults, too.

I am Amanda, and I wanted to set the record straight. First of all, there was only myself, and my 2 small children in the house. I said that at first I thought it was my brother playing a joke on me.(he had spent the night with a friend, however, he could have came home) Second, I was in the hallway when this happened, the room where my daughters were was behind me and the intruder! Therefor when I broke free, if I would have gone back to them, I would have had to get past the intruder. THE ONLY CHANCE I HAD WAS TO GET HELP, SO I RAN FORWARD TO THE FRONT DOOR TO SCREAM FOR MY UNCLE WHO LIVES NEXT DOOR! This apparently was enough to scare him because he jetted out. I went and grabbed my girls and ran as fast as I could next door. I have never been so scared in my life. And last but not least, what difference does it make what color he was? Every single race has its bad apples, so stop acting like one is better or worse then the other! And to all of you people who want to criticize me- until you have been in my situation, keep your useless childish remarks to yourself!..... I am so thankful that I my girls are OK. I know that it was only by the grace of God that I was able to get away! So many other women who have been in my situation were not as lucky, so I am going to take this in stride, and thank God every day for this blessing!!!! Thank you to all of those who have kept my family in your thoughts and prayers! It is greatly appreciated!

why would the attacker not know where you live? He was in your house. We don't know where you live but he does!

let me further explain--if they are serious about attacking someone in your mother's house they may return to scene of crime and it could be you or your mother or anyone in the house later. They could also attack anyone in the neighborhood. Most of the time these things occur criminals usually scope out neighborhoods and observe people's habits so they can rob you. They might even have thought no one was there and discovered there was someone in the house. Do you normally stay with mother or was this a one night only situation? Either way none of us are safe in our own homes. Racial remarks need to stop--this is a crime against all of us innocent victims, all races, and we need to love and protect and support each other.

Her children are too young for school, and her uncle is the neigbor. and why would you even question her story by trying to disect the facts. Her brother has a key to his mothers house and maybe could have stopped by, that is what she was thinking I am sure.

To Amanda: sweetheart you have completely misunderstood my post. Which would be easy to do when you're already upset by your ordeal. Let me explain my post a little bit better. The news article mentioned several people but it didn't really mention where they were during the time of the assault. Also, the article didn't mention if the door was locked or unlocked. I know at 7:15 am my door is usually open due to putting our cats out and kids off to school, etc. Not having reported these things, the article concerning this home invasion took on a scarier edge to me because whoever did this would have to be very desperate to enter a home so full of people AND in broad daylight too. Which was the point of my whole post which is mentioned in my last two lines: we live in a crazy world and people are just getting bolder and crazier with it. I in no way was trying to suggest that there was anything fishy to your story and I apologize deeply if my post gave you that impression. As a woman and a mother to 3 girls, I am disturbed by how it seems to be nearly impossible, regardless of where you live, to feel safe and secure any longer. Even in smaller, tight knit communities where neighbors look out for each other. Again, I regret that my original post was misunderstood and I hope my explanation brings you some small measure of comfort, as much as is possible given everything else you've been through. Hugs and many prayers to you!

Doesn't the article say 7:15 PM?? BUT does it realy matter where the kids "should" have beeen? Someone came into her home, with her and her children in it, she fought him off, Ran to the front door to scream for help, does appear that she ever left the house. People can say what they would have done if they were in that situation but you never really know until you walk in those shoes. The big picture is the person needs to be found and we all need to be cautious!!
