If this Shannon guy was drunk, then he's nothing but a rotten murderer.
I'll say this in advance. For all those who'll inevitably come to the defense of this truck driver, [email protected]!

Here Here....
Loose your license and locked up for
Minimum of 10 years.. no parole
period for 1st offence dui if you
Injure or kill someone.
maybe they will think twice before
driving again. This slap on the hand
2 or 3 times.. how many people have to
suffer before the laws are made
to justify the crime!!!!!
Screw your rights,, you lost them the moment you start your car and drive
drunk.....

I am so sick and tired of hearing about all these drunks causing accidents and harming/killing innocent people.
Perhaps it is time for our system to stop coddling these drunks. Let's start cracking down, starting with the first offense. Let's 'inconvenience' these fools with a 1 year suspension of their license to start off with and mandatory AA attendence for 1 year, concurrently.
Judges let drunks off too easily. I know of someone who got his second DUI...lost his license for a year, got THREE days of jail time, to be served oer the course of two weekends to not interfere with work. Bulls^&*, do you agree???
I must add, that the current diversion programs required by the courts are a crock.

Is Shannon a male or female? Doesn't really matter. Two lives gone; one, possibly two lives wasted. What a tragedy.

Who made any of you judge and jury based on partial facts provided by the media that is known skew the truth. Are you condemming your friends and family also? I can guarantee that someone you know has had a drink and gotten behind the wheel of a car..they just didn't get caught or cause an accident. You don't know the person responsible, you don't know all the true facts yet you are high and mighty to jump to your conclusions and condemnations. I say a prayer for all of you that you find peace and recognize the only true judge is God and the only true criminal is the devil who lays constant temptations at the feet of man.

I drive the 67 and 78 highways nightly at about midnight and in 12 years the only time I see a CHP is at an accident. I have several times called 911 to report very drunk drivers, one who passed me on the right and almost forced me into oncoming traffic, and not once have they been stopped in Ramona, coincidentally they drive right past the Ramona substation. I realize this accident was early in the evening however I believe that drunk driving is taken way to lightly out here. perhaps some sobriety checkpoints are in order.

He was drunk and he killed someone. What else is there to say? Is there something we are missing here?

If I'm not mistaken, the tox screen is a private medical record and none of you have interpreted the results... so you cannot say he was driking because you really don't know.
And think about it, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that anyone who just experienced a horrific accident like that would be staggaring and confused and in shock. Signs and symptoms of intoxication are similiar to signs and symptoms of an altered level of consciousness and only the medical records can and will reveal the truth.

He must have been in some kind of staggering shock prior to the accident when witnesses said he was weaving all over the place.
Yeah he was drunk, no doubt about it.
You must be an acquaintance.

Not so private actually. The results will be made public. Like the prior poster said, he was driving erratically before the accident. Add the stink of alcohol to that. Plus the tox that will be released.

This is an old thread. Shannon the Shrimp Shim has already decided to physically alter himself to look like Ian and to live with the Kinneys...IF the Kinneys agree. Would this not facilitate the reconciliation between those who drink and drive and those who do not?

Also the socio-economic aspect of this should not be overlooked: a working man's truck came to crush a Lexus driven by a teenager? Who can truly know what is going on here but the Lord Mighty Oh God!

Now shut up and rejoice in the actions of God!!

What the heck does that mean??? I believe that, yes, it could have been any of us who have had drinks before driving. There but the grace of God go I. It is a tragedy. Lives are changed forever. I believe forgiveness is the key to healing all wounds. The heart of man only changes with the acceptance of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen or not?

Yes, we deffinately need stricter drunk driving laws. Heavier sentences, especially if people die. I pray for Shannon Shimp, his family and peace and comfort for the Kinney's.

Know the facts. Have you seen the tox screen on the victim yet? Until facts are presented in court all the media has to say is heresay. Learn compassion and forgiveness for all. The defendant has no priors and do you know how much he had to drink? Do you know what his tolerance level is? Know you judge without facts.

There was no tox screen on Ian and YES shannon was drunk. I attend all the hearings and he was WELL Over the legal limit. This is NOT the first time. And his sickining family too that comes to court and acts like NO BIG DEAL...f*&KERS

Anyone that attended court today and/or gathered the actual facts would know that in fact the victim's passenger admitted under oath today that she and the victim had smoked marijauna prior to getting behind the wheel at the time of the accident. You would also have the knowledge that the victim never made a reaction or hit the breaks to avoid the accident, although the passenger clearly saw it coming. Also, you may want to get your facts straight as the only past history for Shannon Shimp on the sherriff's website would be for fix it tickets, no previous DUI's or even moving violations. Again, people jump to conclusions without facts. Although, the defendant is being charged with driving under the influence, the same label can be placed on the victim. Shannon Shimp will suffer for the rest of his life regardless of any sentence. God is his real judge and jury. Forgiveness and peace for all is what is needed at this time regardless of the trial outcome.

Furthermore, I pray for all of you that have condemned not only Shannon but his family. How can you speak so cruelly about a family that cares about their son...brother...friend..cousin ? Do you have no heart? Would you not be there for your loved one regardless of something they may have done wrong? What do you expect of his family? Do you want them to fall at the feet of the victims and for something they had no control over? They too are victims of the whole situation. No one has gone unharmed through this tradedy. Everyone deals with situations in different ways. Some people just have the ability to trust in God and give over their pain and know that God has a plan through all things, even tradgedies.
