What I would like to know is what the State of NM does with the 16% or 17% of what the Tribes have to give? The Tribes give just as much as they get.

Time for them to stop all this double standard, they are American Citizens and should obey all are laws without hiding behind their reservation.

Either they give up all the money the casino's make or they start using it to pay for their own police force and those of poorer tribes.

Is there no end to their demands we give them millions when they make millions off us?

When the Santa Ana casino was starting the renovation I overheard the tribal leaders whining about losing $250.000.00 an hour when the power had to be shut off for two hours and that was in the middle of the night. The income from just that casino on a weekend is incredible but the tribe still balks at having to pay state taxes!

As for the grant for the police departments, well, obama is trying to get all aspects of the government in his debt so he can get the legislation HE wants passed, i.e.: health care non-reform. The money for these grants was put out for use around March and is just now getting down to the end users. To think the distribution of that money is not political is naive.

I believe that the native peoples of Jemez have a right to push for same resources that everyone else demands and also deserves; whether its a Police Service or any other service.

Someone please tell me why that right should not be theirs also
