Like the title says I just moved into Raleigh, NC from NJ. I'm loving how quiet the area is and enjoing some of the natural beauty in the landscape around me. I was wondering what are some good places to visit that are affordable and entertaining at the same time? I have a small family with one pre-teen that I have to keep in mind when it comes to picking out places to do family outings. I'm aware of Pullen park and have enjoyed it there so I was hoping to hear some suggestions from others from this area about places similar to Pullen park. Well thanx for reading!

Welcome to the area!!!!
There are museums around that are FREE as well as the many events that downtown Raleigh offers.
Don't forget the 8th Annual Children's Good News Spectacular (which is FREE) that will be held at the Fairgrounds on August 25th and there will be MANY other back-to-school events between now and the traditional calendar start date of August 27th so stay involved and informed.
Depending on the school your children attend, they often have things for the students to do, that are age appropriate as well.
Again welcome to the area and I hope you and your family enjoy your time here.
