...The engineer of the train sounded the horn and applied the emergency brake upon seeing the girl on the tracks, but was unable to stop in time," he said...This written like 3,000 times a year should give the press the hint that railroad safety sucks in this country. There has been equipment available for years for the train to have gotten stopped in time.

What part of the brakes suck and there is no steering on the train does the government allowing these train MURDERS BY NO LAW do the IN CHARGE of railroads clowns not understand?

Ashlyn was a girl who just wanted to be a girl, who wanted to have fun with her friends, play sports, and everyhting else a girl would do.She never did anything bad and of all people for this to happen to, it had to be the innocent. I wasnt close friends with ashlyn, but i know her from school and i used to be good friends with her and it hurts to know tomorrow i cant see her and one of my friends died. *RIP ASHLYN*

What part of simple physics do you not understand?

momentum=mass*velocity

think of how much a train weighs, multiply that by the speed and you have the momentum. You then need an equal amount of force to stop that momentum.

No steering on the train? A brilliant observation. Perhaps it's because TRAINS RUN ON RAILROAD TRACKS? I don't know about you, but I've never seen a train that didn't run on railroad tracks, nor have I seen one with a steering wheel. I'll let you know if I do, though.

ashlyn we love you! and we all are trying to deal with this. but the driver are you serious! pure day light and you cant see someone standing on the tracks or atleast a shadow. you need to sound the horn so much more earlier and you need to apply them emergency brakes faster and millions of people wouldnt have been hurt by this! thanks for ruining our summer..

i love you ashlyn<3

MURDER? Murder my friend is the act of killing another being with intent and brutal force. This was no murder; however, I can agree that this event is an inexplicable tradegy that befalls the nation on too many occasions. Something should be done, yes, but the difference between murder and tradegy is a distinction that must always be upheld. Thoughts and prayers to the family.

Please don't think bad of Ashlyn. She was a great girl with INCRIDIBLE potential. I belive Grace. She wouldn't play with her life like that. It's just not in the right mind of a person gambaling thier life like that. I know Grace and I would belive her. I mean I've know her for a long time and I can tell you that if we made a bet on Ashlyn-That she would be succsessfull in life I'd win. This is a tragedy that has fallen so many people. She had a lot of friends. I mean you should have seen that night on the day she died. So many people came. Even a person I know that was fighting with her broke into tears when she found out about her passing...It just shows that she was a friendly person that knew everyone and everyone knew her. She was known by EVERYONE. I can tell you one thing the day after she died. People who didn't know here personally-Cried. People who hated her-Cried. And people who knew her the best broke like glass. Some people didn't show their feelings but the expressions on their faces and their movments were enough proof to me that they CARED.

REST IN PEACE ASHLYN,
WE'LL NEVER FORGET YOU,
Altamash (AND I HOPE I SPEAK FOR EVERYONE IN THE SCHOOL)

WE ALL LOVE YOU...WE MISS YOU SO MUCH....
