Mountain lion killed after escape at Kansas zoo

Officials at a central Kansas zoo are trying to figure out how a 150-pound mountain lion escaped from its enclosure.The 14-year-old female was shot and killed by police at the Great Bend Zoo on Sunday evening.Zoo director Mike Cargill says the mountain lion escaped during feeding time, about 30 minutes before closing time.

I have a soft heart when it comes to animals so I hate reading these types of stories. I hate thinking that an innocent animal had to die because of human error or what have you. Yes, the most important thing is the safety of people but it is just a sad situation. Too bad the darts took so long to arrive, you would think the police would have them available.
