Zoo keepers become housekeepers

As city officials actively hunt for a replacement for former Great Bend Zoo Director Mike Cargill, they uncovered some deficiencies in the facility while scrambling to fill in until someone is hired.

Congrats to the City of Great Bend and their Zoo by accepting the resignation of Mike Cargill. For several years employees of the Zoo have called me with their concerns. From poor caging holding dangerous cats, to birds dying, to using raptors without permits, and most of all keeping birds including Bald Eagles in horrible conditions in the building at the Great Bend Airport. You have taken the first step to bringing your Zoo back to respectibility.
