If the carry-out order is asked to be bagged and billed seperately, each with their name on it and special condiments, all paid for seperately, and the customer who picks it up takes forever to pay this one with cash, use this credit card for that one and the other....the entire ordeal could have taken forever and your services are expected at other areas of the restaurant. Also, automatic gratuity may have been triggered by the computer to charge for all the "seperate" carryout orders, who knows....don't pull the trigger on the person who more than likely actually earned the tip.

Great comments from all of you. Here's the real deal. 1st; They need mandatory drug testing. 2nd; they need to hire people with pride. 3rd; Most people working there are in Fact;ALL UNDERPAID.. 4th; Management is a joke. 5th; We all get what we pay for ( BACK TO #3). 5th; Servers on Sundays get barely a tip,,,, when serveing a 12 person group fom a local church.(Don't hold your noses too high!!!) 6th; I've gotten the impression from overheard conversations that management is more concerned with a bounus of some kind. 7th; It is in FACT... A managers duty to fill in (WHEN AND WHERE NEEDED) that doesn't always happen..
In Summary; I too have heard the servers with bad attitudes.(THEY ARE PEOPLE TOO, AND ALSO HAVE BAD DAYS). Next, when I do go out to eat, I enter with the thought that the server WILL GET 15%, It then goes down or up, depending on my server. AND LASTLY; If Applebees wants be be public friendly, they need to hire better people and change back to being a family place, not a bar!!! You can't have both. But this all comes with the change in the times. Hope I didn't offend anyone.. But you larger groups should really step up to the plate. COME ON, a ten dollar tip for 11 adults and six children. GIVE THEM A BREAK!!!!

Does it say anywhere on their "to go" menus that they will add gratuity? If you paid with a credit card and didn't check your bill before you signed the guest check, I would say you are out of luck. I personally do NOT think gratuity should be added on to go orders but if it does state on the menu that it will be added with large orders then I would suggest your read carefully next time.

Melissakaye said it well in her post and I think all these waitresses on here need to read her post. And another note to you waiters/waitresses, you CHOSE this profession...nobody forced you to choose a living that requires you to EARN your money by doing a good job. A tip must be earned and deserved, and should not be added in without permission by ANYONE.

And I have had bad experiences at the Radcliff Applebees as well. I ordered a curbside order (2 meals, no drinks, no appetizers) and had 2 people waited on before me, who walked in the door AFTER me, and I waited over 20 mins for an order that was sitting in one of the little cubicles getting cold the entire time. When I asked for a discount for having to wait so long, and my food likely being cold, I had to wait another 10 mins for a manager, who never came up to me personally to speak to ME-they went to the cashier/waitress and told her there would be no discount-she couldn't even come to ME and say it to ME...so I walked out without my food and called corporate. Obviously if the managers on site won't even speak to you, let alone compensate for horrible service, then you have to go higher on the 'food' chain. I was compted (wrote down in the 'book') for our meals to come in another time to eat....I do like the food there, and most of the time the service is decent when you are eating IN...I definitely tip accordingly and usually leave over 15% when its earned. But management is obviously doing something wrong.

I'm writing everyone and telling everyone this story, it's appalling to find out a fee will be charged to you for a carry out order.
And for the girl to act like a victim when i question her? Isn't that your job? I don't charge a fee for how many questions my customers ask in a visit-It's ludicrous!!! And wrong...I never as a server expected a cent from a carry out order-that would have just been a bonus. And who that values their money would pay someone 17.33 to pack up there order and you still have to drive and get it? Come on! Does anyone know the owner to the Applebee's in Radcliff?
Usually the person answering the phone and taking togo orders are waitresses. I calculate that the waitress took approximately ten minutes to take a large order over the phone... at least ten minutes to check it and package it for you... another five to run it to the curb service (where you are seated comfortably while someone BRINGS your food to you) and another five minutes to either process your credit card or accept your cash payment transaction.... SO LET ME GET THIS STRAIGHT... You wanted a waitress who makes 2.13 an hour to donate that much of her time to you for nothing???? GO TO MCDONALDS NEXT TIME CHEAP ASS!!!!!!

I would also like to add that the waitress who took your order had to personally make any salads or deserts in your order and in most cases put them in the togo boxes herself. As a waitress, I have taken several togo orders and I know that gathering everything up and packaging it for the customer is time consuming. I had to turn down tables so I could package orders.

It makes me furious that someone would go to a place of business where it is understood that most employees make 2.13 and hour and then bitch about paying those people to give you service. How dare you??

There is a lot more involved than just "packaging" your food... for a server to complete a togo transaction I would say it consumes at least 30 minutes of her/his time... and that is probably a low estimate.

30 minutes to package a togo order...I hope that was for baseball team or more because if it takes you 30 minutes to pack an order for one family no wonder you don't get tipped well...you're to slow!

You are all right, the managers there suck they hate to help any customer, the servers usually do a awful job because of the managers! i worked there for a 1 yr and the managers are garbage worthless people who in the end don't care about no one! Also alot of the employee's don't even notices the extra charges on your bill we are told to tell customers its tax that's it, yes i agree even if you do carside it is stupid but thats how the big guy makes his money!Also the reason due to why a person's food takes a long time to come to you is either A, there is only 1 cook on the line B, someone forgot your order because it got bumped off the screen. They screw the employees over alot worse I found out that they go in there system & change employees clock in & out times to save money on there labor so there store looks good! wtf so when you find out your working off the clock more than what you think it & you call them out on it they don't give a FUCK!! I was recently fired from there because my husband is in the army and got emergency red-crossed due to another state to the death of his handicapped sister so i called applebees and told them they said your fine good to go just bring paper work ,came back 10 days later come to find out i was fired so i told my boss to go fuck him self , could care less.

FYI: The Owners name in not papa say. I would suggest that you get you facts straight before you start throwing around names. This man is just a district/regional MGR. He reports to the owner/owners only. The Radcliff store is a Franchise, not Corporation owned. It says Applebees on the sign, because someone paid for the name.

Just to let all u men in radcliff know that the manger Gidget.. will give blow jobs for 25 dollars.. 10 mins or 50 dollars 30 mins.. also see her sucking off a cop.. to get out a speeding ticket.. I hate the RPD.. thats 4real people.. just go up there and u will hear gidget bragging about the dicks she sucked and how much money she already made from it..
