Moving to the area in about 2 months. Can someone tell me which area is the best? What is the best elementary school? Safety? I read previous if staying in Radcliff, stick to old neighborhoods, why? I have noticed a lot of new construction is there any builder with bad reputation? what is the ethic makeup of the area? Is the crime rates high? Any information that can be shared would be appreciated.

In Radcliff the best areas to live are the Meadowlake neighborhood and the neighborhood around and behind Woodland Elementary school. Woodland is the best Elementary school in Radcliff. But, if you move to Radcliff you face dealing with a bad Middle school and high school (Education wise) James T. Alton (in Vine Grove) is the next closest best middle school. All of the High schools in Hardin County are on about the same level right now academically according to the latest results. Your best bet all the way around for academics is Elizabethtown Independent Schools in the City school district. But you would have to make sure that you move into a neighborhood in the zoning areas. I know there is a nice neighborhood off Woodland Dr in Elizabethtown in City district. Other then that.. I'm not sure. Stay away from the Kingswood Way Nieghborhood (radcliff), Behind US Cav. Apartments (Radcliff), Pinecrest (Etown), and College Heights apts (Etown) to name a few places.. due to crime. But take the advice given drive around if you see people standing around outside (hanging out in masses) in the neighborhood.. its probably not a good area, and talk to the neighbors when you view a house about the neighborhood.

dont listen to the dipshit above me about people hanging out in masses... people congregate so what that doesnt meean they are up to no good. you must have took the same profiling classes as our supposedly cities finest.. not every young person is on or posesses illeagal items.. the main problem in this county is that no one wants to except that this is not a retirement home.. and no one wants to except diversity.. this is not amish country people mingle. that dont make them criminals..

Move in the John Hardin school district. Elementary, middle and high school right in a row. Pine valley subdivision is nice depending on how much you want to pay for a home.

The best schools are in the Elizabethtown Independent School District. I have lived in Radcliff and it has changed over the years. Meadowview used to be a great elementary but has declined over the last few years, failing child left behind, terrible place if your child has a handicap, but that goes for all of the Hardin County School District, according to friend that's had all kinds of problems with his beautiful autistic child and the schools. Woodland is a newer school, nice, not sure about its passing or failing.

The only other thing you should check, no matter which place you choose to go, Believe me I wish i had purchased in Elizabethtown. Only shopping in Radcliff is small hole in wall business and walmart, and a food lion, save a lot. that's grocery options. All the nicer chain restaurants and shopping is in Etown. Remember to do a check of the States Sex offender Registry.

I dont know if you have already moved here and made a choice, but let this be for future people that have the same choice to make, I have lived in Meadowlake in Radcliff for the past 17 years now, and this is a very safe neighborhood, as for e-town and vinegrove like radcliff, everywhere you go there will be problems with crime and bad school, the school is only bad if the child is not willing to learn, my siss graduated from NHHS in 98 at the top of her class, with the chance to go to any college including stanford and harvord, what I'm trying to say is, if you stay away from the crime and mind your own business, you will have no problems in any city, and school like I said is only affective if the child is willing to learn. but Meadowlake is a good place to live, as well as hilltop terrace, all in radcliff, and in e-town, there are a few good nighborhoods there too, u just need to get with the realtors and look around for yourself, you can normaly tell a bad place from a good place by the looks.

what everyone failed to ask or tell is that radcliff hardin county is full of military...which she already knows...but it is also a location that military retirees stay...dont know why...but it is..thats what bought me to hardin county...no one also mentioned that fact that its a dry county...making trips to vinegrove or the big liquor store on post(the new 24hr shoppee on wilson rd)...or how packed walmart is...that thing is like church on sunday 7 days a week...i dont know much about the "education" system here...i know kids that go to woodland and someone who goes went to john and now goes to north...he liked john better...but with no type of "public transportation...car is required...and be careful with dui's...worse place to get some...but thats anywhere...yes there are some racism...and some old folks that arent new to the times...dont blame them...they are stuck...its 2010 people..not 1964...but overall its not bad...hardin county is what u make of it...ive been enjoying the "ville" lately...plus its somewhat centrally located if u want to try nashville and lexington...

ETown is best, but also avoid neighborhood behind Wendy's/Green Bamboo, and any neighborhood running along the railroad tracks. This is a great place to raise kids, pretty low crime rate per capita. There's 3 nice size lakes within an hour's drive, more huge lakes within 2 hours, any direction. Cost of living here and thru most of the state is very good, that's also why people choose to retire here and alongside Ft.Knox... state park system 2nd to none, history, bourbon trail, hiking and nature, Derby festivities, Louisville 40 minutes to the north and one of my fav little party cities, Bowling Green, just an hour south. Good luck and welcome to the bluegrass!
