I've been to Saunders many times for great workouts in gorgeous scenery. But...beware of the sasquatches, aliens, cone heads, and people who like to ruin a good place for others. Beyond all that, it's a wonderful place to spend your day. Radcliff and Ft. Knox are lucky to have this beautiful area so close.

Well i was up there in July 2012 and took a picture of My son in front of the Archer cabin. When i got home i saw a figure looking out of the window on My photo. It looked like a gray mist but you could see two eyes and a head.

Been there million of times!!! I can admit there is a very creepy feeling about the place!!! But I might contribute that to the rich history of the area and the remoteness of the place compared to Radcliff. But I lived in Radcliff for about 4 years in high school and have been there millions of times. I have done tons of research on the city of Radcliff & Fort Knox as well, and no where did i find anything about a gondola crash with six child fatiliies. Regardless of them being military children if this was true there would be firm documentaion. I do remember the soldier being found though. There has been no documentation of any Civil War battles being faught in that immediate area. West Point yes, E-Town of course, but the Radcliff Fort Knox area no!!Though the area does carry a rich history throughout the civil war, the areas now known as Radcliff and Fort Knox were heavily wooded areas until around 1918 or so, and other than a few farm patches here or there, the area was pretty much uninhabited at the time of the Civil War. The Springs however has been known as a water source for the area for many many years before American's begin settling the area. I believe that the history of the place alone gives off certain vibes, but as far as a gondolaa crash killing six children or any deaths that can be attributed to the civil war, I'm not saying it's not true, but there is no documentation of either happening in the area. But I can deny that there is a feeling that the place does carry, but reading these post it seems as if many of you simply have an overactive immagination or believe everything you hear instead of seeking the truth!!!

{Settled}: I remember when Saunders was not even a park. Used go camping there when I was kid with my buddies...that was when a kid go stay out in the woods and enjoy being a kid ...no more

Yeah, I remember that too. There used to just be a gravel road down there. No trails like there is now. We used to hang out down there too. Camped down there once or twice. But mainly it was used as a place to chill and get drunk and stoned. lmao Those days are long gone but the memories remain. Now I use it as a gym. I run the trails... One hell of a workout!!!

6-7 miles of joint use trails have been built in the 73 acre Annex area adjacent to the nature preserve. Just about the most family friendly place I know. The former water plant reservoir has been stocked with fish (bluegill, large-mouth bass, channel catfish and crappie). A water fountain was just added near the upper restrooms. The Preserve was just featured on a KET special (Nov. '13). A mecca for photographers. Lots of schools bring their students there for a day of educational programs. More than 4,000 hours of volunteer help in 2013 which included 12 Eagle Scout projects (building new trails).

No charge for admission. Open year around weather permitting.
Children love to play in the cascading streams.
The three 1800s log cabins located at the Wilson Road entrance are open to the public only on special dates.
Over the last year or so, a number of new trails have ben added (in the Annex area) with some mountain biking only trails now under development.
A welcome center is to be built near the upper pavilion in 2014 within an old brick building which will be renovated.
There is no charge to reserve either of the pavilions for a family outing.
