I never knew Alzheimer's affected so many people. Hopefully our understanding of this condition will continue to grow.

My husband has a dimentia (probably from his decades of Type I diabetes) and I say so due to his preference to choose not to follow the rules during his midlife years. Beer and partying was done too much but he did learn to cook correctly and eat properly most times. Even with the good things done his A1c was often 8-10 and above.

2 decades ago he held the A1c to 6+ but he had a LOT of emergencies of high or low readings and needed home or hospital treatment for them. I became rather knoeldgeable and his needs forced early retirement for me TWICE, to be his Caregiver. Now we live in Oregon and have excellent sup-port group meetings which I have attended for years. One year ago I had to put him into full-time care away from home, as my own health was severely affected by caregiving 21 hours out of every 24 hour day. I want getting sick.

My doctor asked me to look at this site and I think you are a god source, although I have not read all the portions yet. Thanks for being helpful.
