You couldn't have said it better..I worked there from 1999-2003...Nurse...and I agree with the steady income and everything but I had to get out of there..everyone there was such backstabbers..seems like they keep these people and fire the ones that actually care and work hard... I know several people that still work there..I won't mention names, but one nurse stole 600 dollars out of a patients purse and bragged about it and another was an avid drug user who stole meds from the pyxis...the first one has been there about 10 years and the other is still there and won an award for employee of the month ...go figure!! |

And now we are being told by the new VP Susan Graham that we either have to get 99th percentile on the customer scores or we will be fired. And she even told us that Fred said this. There are so many other things that need done she is just trying to push us until we are broken and demoralized. She doesn't care about employees and treats us like dirt.

How right u r!!!! KDMC talks alot but does NOT walk the walk. If they even did 1/4 of what they try to portray to the community that they do then there would be nothing better. But, the sad truth is they are mostly there for the business aspect. Most of the administrators and the CEO have never worked taking care of sick people. Come on unless you have experience in what your trying to do you can only do so much. And most of the time it falls short. As it is with KDMC. They have no real sence of community because they don't ever take the time to actually go out on the floor and take care of people. The nurses are to be applauded there. I really don't know how they put up with it. Get off your high horse Fred and take the time to go take care of someone who needs taking care of. Get a good sence about the business you r trying to run. Yes you make alot of money for the hospital, no disagreement there but try looking a little deeper into what people need. Sometimes just down right genuine CARING does more than all the fancy things around you. |

Susan is great at her job and it amounts to being a good BULLSHITTER. And at that she is wonderful. She couldn't care less about the people who are truly in need of a helping hand. Like I said she is quite a talker. Maybe a better suited job for her would be Politician. |

All I have to say is... If KDMC is one of Americas Top 100 employers, I'd hate to see who DIDN'T make the list |

DAMN, except for "Well Off" there at the beginning, everyone is sooo right. That place puts on such a wonderful front. If the community only knew what it was like, they would be apalled that we have the best reputation in this area. Believe me, I had a meeting once with the nursing big wigs after throwing a fit about how things are ran and their stupid expectations, and they can sure bullshit too. If I wouldn't have known any better, I would have thought they took me serious and were gonna try to make things run smoother. Good thing I'm not a pushover, I was right. They called that meeting to shut me up and make me think they were gonna fix things. I am told ofter when I bring up something that doesn't go right, tat if I can't meet KDMC's expectations then I may want to find a "less reputable" place to work. But seriously, noone can meet their rules/expectations that change everyday. I understand the need for regulations and standards to follow, but they just don't make any sense and we dont have the time in the day to do ALL of them. There is only so many minutes in a day. They think were being lazy, but the only way we can safely care for and make them the happiest little patients in the world, is the cut the nurse to patient ratio. But until they make it a law, like in some other states it's 4:1 law, it will never get any better.

Like any other career its about the bottom line.........money. to care to serve and to heal should read to kill steal and destroy. The place is filled with people who think of themselves more highly than they should. Since when did a two year community college degree followed by an online BSN make someone a God. Made up vitals and charting on patients that never get seen is the norm.
