Hello Kayla,how are you?

It seems you have strong opinions about the church of Christ, but no scripture to support your thoughts.

What do you know about the church of Christ?

Thank you for posting.

Note Please: This BUNCH have no thoughts of their own...It is always cut and pasted or a link given to what someone else writes or says. It is typical of coc. They call Baptist, Methodist, Church of God all false teachings. Sad....sad....Please note they are often referred to as a cult since they are used to responding with written material on the subject. Interesting, huh?

Hi Kayla, I hope your doing well.

Is is true that people can be mistaken? YES,each accusation must be proven (1Thes.5:21).

21 Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.

The New Testament is the standard by which we prove what is right spiritually and what is wrong spiritually (1John 4:1-6)(John 17:17)(John 5:39).

You say we (coC) do not have any thoughts of our own. A christian is to have the mind of Christ (Phil.2:5).

5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:(Phil.2:5).

Is it wrong to use book, chapter and verse to answer people when they ask a spiritual question? No,Jesus said the following in (Mt.4:4).

...It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

The example Jesus set for all Christians is to use the word of God to answer spiritual questions. Not just call them names.

Have you read the lessons posted? If so, can you prove they are incorrect?(1John 4:1-6)(Acts 17:11). Instead of doing what these two verses teach christians to do you have decided to just call us (coC) names. That is childish.

You may influence some not to read and accept truth by this method, but you will not win over those who truly are seeking truth (Luke 8:15).

Those truly seeking truth will read the lessons posted and then go to their own bibles and check to see if those lessons harmonize with the bible (Acts 17:11).

11 These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.

Thanks for posting.

The problem with people today is that they have been taught it is unloving to test (or try) the doctrine people teach. The bible says to test the spirits to see if they are teaching truth or teaching error (1John 4:1-6).

I had rather talk about bible principles than people. How about you?

1.If a person teaches miracles happen today but cannot walk on water or raise the dead he is a false teacher (1Thess.5:21).

2, If a person says water baptism has no part in the plan of salvation and the word of God says

"baptism doth also now save us"

that person is a false teacher (1Peter 3:20,21). Verse 20 tells us this baptism is referring to water. Because eight souls were saved by water (1Peter 3:20).

...eight souls were saved by water

If a person says man is saved before baptism and the bible says

16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; (Mark 16:16)

That person is a false teacher.

If a person teaches one is freed from sin BEFORE doing anything and the bible says one must accept the correct doctrine, then obey that doctrine and freedom from sin comes after being obedient to that doctrine, the person who taught freedom comes before obedience is a false teacher.(Rom.6:16-18)

vs 16 - Decide who to obey.

vs 17 - obey the doctrine delivered (Rom.6:3-6).

vs 18 then being freed from sin.

Where did you do your Bible training?

Hello Kim, I hope you are doing well.

The church (the people) is the "the pillar and ground of the TRUTH" (1Tim. 3:15).

15 But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth.

The apostle Paul tells us the church is a good place to learn about truth,if the church is teaching the pure unadulterated word of truth (John 17:17).

If the church is not teaching truth, then it is a place to learn about error (Gal.1:6-9). We can find both truth and error in this world. It is our responsibility to search out and find that "pillar and ground of the truth" (Acts 17:11)(John 5:39 : 17:17).

The people in (Acts 4:7) realized one must have authority to teach about spiritual matters. Without authority from God a person is teaching the commandments of men (Mt.15:9)(Isa.55:7,8,9).

To answer your question my parents taught me about spiritual matters from time of a child (2Tim.3:14-17). I am very thankful to my parents for taking the time to help me learn about the bible.

I have learned about spiritual matters by attending church services with my brethren and by studying the Bible on my own (2Tim.2:15)(Heb.10:25,26).

We can understand the bible by studying on our own contrary to what some people teach (Eph.3:3,4).

If the church is "the pillar and ground of the truth" it is a good place to study the word of God. Each church must be tested to see if they are actually teaching truth or error (1John 4:1-6)(Acts 17:11).

So learning from your parents is how you became a preacher? No college training? Schooling? Is that the only training required? Some coc preachers have a doctorate degree......

I am Christian hoping to bring people back to the bible alone. No additions and no subtractions, just the word of God (the bible)(1Peter 4:11).

The bible says to teach men truth who in-turn can go and teach others (2Tim.2:2).

2 And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.

This is the method that the bible says will work. It has worked down through the years even from the time of Christ.

Any person who has been taught bible truth by their parents from the time they were a child has a big jump on many who do not learn about bible principles as an adult. Wouldn't you agree?

In Christianity the bible is the standard. The bible has been designed by God to be studied from the age of a very young child (2Tim.3:14-17).

I would not say I have no schooling. Anyone who attends a church of Christ which teaches truth for years will be taught correctly.

I am taught by John,Paul,James and Jude of the bible. That is about as good as it gets.

The information is there for all to receive if they are willing and hunger and thirst after righteousness (Mt.6:33)(John 6:44,45).

On this thread we are talking about how Calvinist teaching opposes the great commission. this alone should have many people wondering about what they have been taught in churches all over the world. Check out the opening post.

The Lord did not mention any of the churches you noted above in the New Testament. I believe that is much more important than me thinking they are false teachers.

"Baptist, Methodist, Church of God "

If they did not come from God, they came from the commandments of men (Mt.15:9).

Can you use the bible and prove the churches above came from God?

Many people call for "tolerance" in the religious world. We hear them say things like, let us "agree to disagree" on doctrinal matters.

But when the church of Christ wishes to teach truth and nothing but truth, all those people who were clamoring for religious "tolerance" suddenly become intolerant (Eph.4:14). Interesting, huh?

Kayla, there may be good reasons why some people either do not (or cannot) write out a long explanation on a particular subject.

Some people may not be feel comfortable writing on the message boards. Some people may be impaired in some manner. But because they love the souls of others they post good sound bible lessons hoping some will read them and come to the knowledge of truth.

These are things to consider instead of painting all members of the church of Christ with a broad brush or calling them ugly names.

From the very first time I heard a gospel sermon on (John 6:44,45) I was amazed at what it taught. These verses destroy Calvinist doctrine totally.

I hope you will take the time to read the following lesson. It will be well worth your time.
