They were both on tractors....Kear was armed...Johnson was UNARMED and shredding HIS OWN land....Kear's gate was 70 yards away....Kear should have avoided any possible confrontation and gone the other way. BUT NO, he had to USE HIS GUN to take a man's life. A husband, father, grandfather's life. Sickening.

I was at the trial and as testimony stated with Johnson coming toward Kear on his tractor yelling to Kear that he was going to cut his (expletive) head off ---I believe Johnson wasn't just out "shredding his own pasture". He was planning on cutting Kear's head off. I was scared just listening to the testimony.

This is the testimony of a murderer. Mr. Johnson wasn't there to defend himself.
Said in the article that it looked as though Mr. Johnson was shot from the back, sort of under the arm, and he didn't fall far from the tractor. Maybe he was getting off the tractor? What could he have cut Mr. Kear's head off with? Was he going to unhook the shredder and pick it up over his head like the Incredible Hulk and charge after him?

I believe he had a front end loader attached to his tractor, according to testimony that he was planning on using as his weapon. Also a forensic witness testified that Johnson was NOT shot in the back, but in both shoulders in the front of his body. The bullet hit Johnson't aorta, which killed him.

I thought you said you were at the trial? Teh pathologist testified that he was shot in the arm, then the bullet went through the back side of his side (under his armpit towards the back) then the bullet hit his lung, then his aorta then out his other lung.

You do the math? How in the ..ll does that happen if you are shooting from the front of a tractor.

And if you are 30 foot away.. how do you hear someone yelling from across two tractor. I can't even get my ///'s attention when they are mowing the lawn and that is just a riding lawn mower.

Wow this must be rocket science.

If it had been any other county. He would be in jail right now. Wood county is corrupt.

After hearing "I'm going to cut your "expletive" head off......I don't think any other explanation was necessary. What exactly did Mr. BULLY Johnson mean when he said those words? Was he just kidding? Did he think Mr. Kear was going to sit on his tractor and WAIT to see if Norman "Bully" Johnson meant what he said? I don't think so. WHY ON EARTH WOULD YOU SAY A THING LIKE THAT AND NOT MEAN IT? Norman Johnson had been a BULLY all his life and tried to intimidate anyone that crossed his path. That is common knowledge to anyone that knew Norman Johnson. Ask around....you'll find out what the community thought of Mr. Norman Johnson.

Was there a tape recording of Mr. Johnson yelling that? Oh wait, Mr. "Community Hero" Kear claimed that's what was said. MUST BE TRUE!!!!
Proving that this was not a fair trial because a lynch mob of a community decided that they didn't like Mr. Johnson so they are gonna let his murderer get off scott free.
And by the way, I will admit to a few times saying I'm going to do things I would never actually do...and don't tell me you haven't.
And do you have to be so rude with your "Bully" comments? Very mature.

Where in my comments did I say I KNOW so much? I'm stating my opinion based on what I read in the article and what I read from other people's post who were at the trial. It is actually your post that made me even more convinced that Wood County and the people of Winnsboro are in a sense using Mr. Kear to "get back" at a man whom you all didn't like for some reason or another. Murder is not the answer. Please tell me you teach your children that.

I don't know about you, but I agree with Not from Winnsboro.
Some people are hanging on the words of a murderer. How sad....
But I can say, I have been made mad, and said, I am going to kill someone. Did I do it? Of course not. Did someone try to kill me because I said it. Of course not.
We are normal human beings.
I still can't believe that so many people decided that Norman Johnson was the aggressor. He was unarmed. and if you say that he was using a tractor as a weapon then was Kear? He was on a tractor as well. And please don't give me that front end loader crap. If there was actually a tractor fight, common sense would tell you that there would be plenty of damage between both tractor. Both tractor are in tact and still able to do farm work. and are we forgetting that Norman was unarmed. I have seen a tractor fight and those tractor were not in a shape where any one was fearing for there lives. The only one fearing for his life was Norman when Kear pulled out a gun and shot and killed an unarmed man.

Everyone needs to set back and rethink the Johnson Murder..William B. Kear did in fact have an easement from Mrs. Jones and it was filed at the Wood Co. Couthouse in Jan 2006. Mr. Johnson had asked Kear numerious times to stay off his land. Mr. Kear filed a lawsuit against Mr. Johnson in May 2006 wanting an easement from him. Mr. Kear had purchased a land lock piece of land and knew it when he purchased it. So Kear had a way to get to this property without getting on the Johnson land but refused to do so. He was transpassing on Mr. Johnson's land!!!Plain and simple. I have known Norman Johnson for over 50 years and have never felt threatened by him. Mr. Johnson was a person who a lot of people was jealous of because of what he had accomplished in his life and the amount of land he owned which part of it was inherited. I have had trouble with neighbors with fence problems as well as I have no transpassing signs posted all around my property but sometimes they are ignored. Like Mr. Johnson why can't people Just Leave Me Alone!!!! Did you know Mr, Kear built his house with an entrance to it across someone else's land. That land is owned and pays taxes on it by the Johnson's. Some people in Wood Co. think that just because you are not using you land they have a right to get on it or to use it. IF Kear was so feared for his life why would he continue every day to cross Mr. Johnson"s land and is still continuing to get on the Johnson.s land every day even after he MURDERED Mr. Johnson. He had an easement and would have not had to cross
the Johnson property. He even stated to the Grand Jury that he did not have a problem with Norman Johnson. MR. Kear has been arrested for Drunk Driving and also ran into a business in Winnsboro while drinking. Someone stated that MR. Kear and another man was fishing and that man drowned. Should we be afraid of what he will do next???

I forgot to mention a date:
Jan 2006 Kear filed an easement at Wood. Co.
from a neighbor named Mrs. Jones to get
to his land locked land.
May 2006 Kear filed a lawsuit on Norman Johnson
wanting an easement from him
Oct. 2006 Kear Killed Norman Johnson

........KEAR HAS WITHDRAWN FROM THIS LAWSUIT AFTER HE KILLED MR. JOHNSON --i SUPPOSED HE THINKS HE HAS WON BECAUSE HE IS CONTINUING EVERY DAY TO CROSS MR. JOHNSON'S LAND. THERE IS PROOF!!
Wondering
