Why not fix the pot holes, a good citizen died due to this, cell phones are here to stay, the cops need to worry about other indicents and not the petty shit you want to pass. Do you think this is your last stance to glory before you are voted out and jailed.

Hey Quintana you said "If one person has died because a driver was using a cell phone when he or she was driving, then that's enough to make us act." Then were in the h-ll are you going to get the money to pay for the signs, its a law in school zones now and the city can not afford to put up those signs. What if a child dies? Can we hold you responsible????? Get a clue city reps!!!!!!!!!!
way to go

ENOUGH with trying to take our rights away slowly. People can view road maps, put on make up,shave and look through bills while driving and the State only wants to focus on the cell phones. Its our right if we wreck, so be it then issue sitations. Getting into a vechile is a hazard by itself, thats why we pay outrageous vehicle insurance rates to begin with. Its called incasesh*t happens. QUIT SWEATING The SMALL CRAP. DAMN THE MAN.

Government has become nothing but one big extortion racket. They can think of any little regulation they can to continue milking the people and using the money to stuff fat cat's pockets. This cell phone law is a joke because I often see the police on their cell phones while they are driving.

It's so sad to see our government degenerate down to a reverse robin hood like in the feudal times in which the authorities legally rob from the poor to give to the rich.

But the polices can make an excuse to be on they phone. They trying to be secret, don't you know everybody have a scanner and listen to them? They gots to use the cell phone. And anyway, the cops was just checkin to see when the next batch was done at krispy kreme.

Why stop at cell phones?

I think the city should ban all of this snow, rain, and wind. It seems to be having a greater effect on drivers.

While they are at it, why not ticket women putting their morning mask of makeup while driving.

I sure hope this passes. I have lost track of the # of times I have almost been hit by a driver who instead of driving was on a cell phone. Driving is dangerous enough without having to be distracted by a cell phone. Your right to talk on your cell phone does not supersede my right to live or not be seriously injured.

There are several issues.
1. enforcement of the ordinance, really there are barely enoungh office to enforce the laws already on the books.
2. driver's will still be distracted, because they still will be talking on the phone, with or without hands free device. The ordinance is a good one but should ban all cell phone use while driving.

NOW lets go after the drivers who put on makeup while driving, this is more likely to cause an accident.
