At least one of those candidates is lying in order to become Jesus' man on the City Council. Malcolm McGregor doesn't live in El Paso, and hasn't ever since his dad left him the place in New Mexico. Apparently, Tom Brown doesn't really care what it takes to legislate Christianity in El Paso. The ends justify the means...

I heard Mr. Abe Peinado speak at the Republican women breakfast. I was impressed with this young man. Very sincere & down to earth common sense. I like his conservative stand. We are voting for him.

"Leftist Radical" is a much better description than "progressive" .... That's what you get when you elect a bunch of inexperienced "tax and spend" kids out of touch with reality and a socialist anti-business old hag like Ann Lilly Morgan... Yeah, Yeah, all solar energy, bicycle trails, mass transit and green computer genus jobs for all our jailed high school "dropouts" and 15 year old pregnant girls. Time to elect a few people that do "have a clue".

Some of my thoughts exactly, too many people don't understand what the term "progressive" actually means and it isn't progress. Back in the day when describing yourself as an avowed "communist" became detrimental those same individuals decided to slip under the radar by labeling themselves as "liberals" but when intelligent people started seeing through that ruse they started calling themselves "progressives". Their actions tell you who they really are no matter what name they hide under. Although the majority of them also hide behind the banners of "democrat", there are a few who have slithered their way into the other parties too.

Are you implying that progressives were communist? Either way you dont know what your talking about. Progressive does come from the word progress. The progressives were people like Teddy Roosevelt and LaFollete who wanted more democracy in America. Such as women voting, direct election of senators, the secret ballot, you know communist things like that you idiot. They also wanted to curb the abuses of big bussiness by trust busting, and regulating banks and helping labor with such communist shenanigans like fire exists to void another triangle shirtwaist fire.

No one needs to run down to city hall, open only four days a week and yet preserving their five day per week pay, to first deliver to them a 72.50 permit fee so as to allow you to repair a plumbing leak that is flooding your home or has you without water! The unbelievable mindset at city hall! Vote for Abe Peinado, he gets it!.

All the professors, lazy union bums, and food stampers support the progressive (LIBERALS)candidates who want to take over the government and tax and punish the business community for being successful. Man, way out there in La La land... Lets vote in some maturity and experience and out the kiddies and that stupid old lady on the west side..

The only idiot here is you who isn't smart enough to realize that much like the democratic party in general, the term "progressive" was hijacked over fifty years ago by the leftist marxist/communist trash. Our founding fathers put all the democracy we need into our politics and we don't need your kind or your "Hopey, Changey" crap.

Sorry you missed the boat facist is just another term for socialist, You are the one that does not know what they are talking about.
Progressive=socialist/liberal
socialist=communist/facist

They are the same thing under different headings with very slight differences between them.
Look it up.
Curious that you would claim to be or use the name Political Scientist as if that had some kind of meaning. lol

How can you be against anyone having decent health benefits and call yourself a Christian? Everyone deserves the right to live. Everyone deserves the right to health care, no matter who you are: fundamentalist right-wing Tea Bagger or Progressive liberal, straight or gay; every human being deserves the right to see a doctor or go to the hospital if he or she is sick.

This is a fundamental right that all human beings have. Under the eyes of God.

The question is: How do we pay for it? Tea baggers want to take away health services and benefits from the poor, the children, the elderly, and the disabled.

Progressives want to tax the richest of the rich. Billionaires who make 17 billion dollars a year in profits, like the huge conglomerate GE, which paid zero dollars in taxes last year (2010), yet made billions of dollars in profits and was even kicked-back 3 billion dollars by the American tax payers.

Why does this argument always fall on deaf ears: Tax the rich, and give to the poor. It is the way out of the deficit; it is how you pay for education, for police services, for fixing the infrastructure, and for paying for basic services that the majority of Americans want, such as health care for all.

But we do not want to raise taxes on the rich. Because it is Un-American and Socialist. But the rich are not our friends. They are the cause of our financial problems and ruin since they take so much from the economy and do not give back to society. They are the predators, we the common man are their prey. It is like chickens defending the right of the fox to come in and devour hens, little chicks, and eggs. We are the sheep defending the wolf and his right to screw us with impunity.

Are we as a people that dumb? Are we as a society, as a collective consciousness, that stupid? I believe that one day we will wake up; and so I continue with my harangues.

But the small-time pimps who keep defending the billionaires and who work to perpetuate the myth and the propaganda that responsible tax revenue is socialism and a bad thing--they will surely pay for their criminal dishonesty.

Your whole argument is flawed. The things you say are fudamental rights are not as you say fundamental.

Oh by the way when was the last time you worked for a poor person.
When was the last time you actually helped somebody personally that you did not know. You need to practice what you preach and take personal responsiblity for helping others and not expect the government to do that.

I doubt that god said to take or steal from Peter and give it to Paul. He said for you to use what you are given and multiply it not take from somebody else. The People you say are the problem are actually the ones that believe like you do. They are the ones that caused the problems in the first place.
Not the ones that disagree with your way of thinking.

Why quote Rachel Quintana? Next time the El Paso Times does an article on how to fly free then ask Rachel for a quote.

Too bad we can't replace all of City Council. That west side lady has definitely got to go.

It is interesting that Don Quixote lit the match with an issue that should have never been in council, now decides there are more important issues and "it is the job of the city council to develop budgets and run the city".

The credit for this mess, also goes to Sancho Panza, Bordello Queen, Novella, the plumber and Rip van.

Glad somebody reads. I agree with you ma, right on. i know who does people are that you talk about, they are people that hear the word socialism and make it a thing to use it even though they do not understand half it. Socialism is not communism. Its like equiting conservatism with anarchy. A bit of a stretch.

Our roads and military, fire department, public education, police department is socialism, but its not bad. Communism is dictators with no parties, no individual liberties, command economy. I simply dont understand why this ignorant maggets vote against their own interests by following non sense
