Dog Owners

El Paso, TX

#1 Mar 6, 2010
When a person has to work nights or even the swing shift and needs to sleep on a different schedule than 8 to fivers, one can learn to hate dog owners that let their dogs bark ALL DAY LONG (And even in the night).

Once one neighborhood dog gets going, the entire neighborhood dogs get barking and never quiet down.

Dog owners that allow this are ignorant and inconsiderate to thier neighbors, not to mention, constant dog barking lowers property values and cheapens a neighborhood..

Don't give the city any more ideas. They might start taxing barking dogs instead of enforcing the nuisance ordinance.

They love taxes.

I assume "Dog Owners" that you have told your neighbor that you are a day sleeper and the his/her dogs are a distraction while you are trying to sleep. I have several dogs and I do the considerate thing and bring my animals into the house at night so that they don't keep people up with their barking. If you were to live in my neighborhood, I would have no idea that you sleep in the daytime, because you havent' told me. It is inhumane to keep my animals inside all day, to keep everyone in the neighborhood happy. Dogs bark, that's what they do. To expect that they will not do so is foolish.

Untrained dogs will bark at anything and everything that moves but they can be trained to only bark at real intrusions. I suggest that all of the responsible owners invest in a small plastic jar half full of dry beans and then spend time with your dogs outside. When they bark at the birds shake the jar and say "Quiet". This works very well and is more humane than the anti-bark collars that deliver electric shocks. It also allows for you to let the dog know that it is alright to bark at someone coming into your yard because it alerts you to the possible car thief, burglar, but it also teaches them to respond to the quiet command when you give it.

People, like many El Pasoans breed dogs like they breed children. They're cute when they're babies but then they grow up and parents don't want to spend time with them. So they make them someone else's problem.
A well trained dog makes for better company for a house and whole neighborhood. But there are so few owners willing to train their dogs.

Red light cameras, cell phone bans, fines?? They all need to be in place, forget common sense there is not much of that left. If there is I don't see it. People let me tell you, common sense is gone when people drive thru a school zone, over the limit and passing. Almost running the crossing guard over almost everyday. I see it everyday. www.ElPasoGrapevine.com

Driving while using a cell phone is just an accident looking for a place to happen.A 30 day warning period and then a fine for every one caught driving and talking on phone.Any one caught texting and driving should be arrested on the spot.Handle it,the same way the county handles a jury fine for not showing up for jury summoms.A 15 dollar fine so you will remember next time and a 350 dollar cout cost( A lot of that goes out of town-dose other cities send El Paso money from their cout cost fines like we send ours to them)?.Look at all the places your money goes, it is on the back of your receipt----Make sure you take cash money or a credit card they like cause your check aint no good with them.

If a persons dog was well trained, it wouldn't bark abd bark and bark. If the owner had any concern for their neighbors they would not leave their barker in the yard while they are away - or many times just sitting in in house ignoring the barking.

Al dogs barks, but those that let their dogs just continue to bark are dumber than the dog.

Well someone better tell Reyes that Veterans are having their appointments canceled so the 4th floor at the VA doesn't have to answer to the question of why there are waiting lists to be seen.

Maybe Reyes can ask why there is no coordination between the VA and Veterans in local hospitals in regard to their needs when discharged from the hospital.

Maybe someone should ask Reyes why paralyzed veterans are having their services (homemaker) cut to only 6 hours a week.

Might as well talk to a rock as to our Congressman when it comes to our Veterans and the treatment they receive at our local VA.

It seems like if you are hispanic and live in El Paso, you have to own a dog and leave it otside. I used to have to sleep with a fan on next to my head just so I could sleep. Talking to them doesnt do anything. It got so bad I had to move.

I saw if a dog barks too much, fine the owner and if they refuse to take action. Find a hungry Korean and give the dog to them so they can have a BBQ.

mr.goins is right. we need the total ban in place. any person on a cell phone while driving is selfish and dangerous. while i was a cop i nearly got run over numerous times while working accidents on the interstate on the westside and central areas. nothing is more important than watching the roadway anda being ready to stop in an emergency.
