Not every child raised in that environment is a "MTV wannabe thug." You CAN'T make blanket statements like that - no matter how discouraging the news can be, or whatever in your experience prompted such a comment - we need to strive to give people in tough situations opportunities like this.

It's great that this project went so well. But Hartford has a lot of teens. Nine students are not enough.

To bad they will knock up 5 different girls there. Then drop out and go to jail. Its karma. Cant take the thug out of a MTV wannabe even if you put them in a civil setting.

I have a novel idea. How about accepting the ones that worked hard, and earned their way to college. Woops,..............I forgot, silly me, this is the handout country of the world. The only place where people are paid to have more kids, free food, section 8 etc. Silly me.

Of course it has a lot of teens. Those teens already have 3 kids. Take a walk around Hartford some time. Oh yea, sorry, its not safe these days.

Great story...it's obvious the naysayers have never visited a college campus or possess the means and drive to get to one.

Sour grapes - I didn't go, so why does anyone (especially a minority) have the chance?

Too bad. The world is changing and we are going to need more than just the AWG to lead the way.
