QCA Fuel Assistance

United States

#1 Mar 7, 2012
Local Massachusetts citizens who
are low income who have worked
in Massachusetts are being denied
fuel assistance.

After completing the application
and submitting the requested documentation
on time, some applicants are asked to
submit more documentation, such as
a previous prior year tax forms.(2010
rather than 2011)

In addition, they delay processing the
application by asking for months and
months of bank statements, and months
and months of fuel statements.

Does Quincy Community Action discriminate
because of status? Are single South
Shore residents 58-62 denied fuel
assistance because they don't have
children?

We thought the main criteria for fuel
assistance was income?
