Judge Simmons at it again I see. What a coward. If he doesn't have the stomach for justice he should resign and go back to where he can do less harm: the defense table.

Yet another story of a murdering scumbagg who, sane or not, should have been executed. As it is, if he has the chance, he will kill someone while he's out and will only go back to his nice, lax mental ward.
What a pathetic piece of crapp the judge is. This guy needed death...not medical treatment. The blood of his next victim is on the hands of the judge the dope who let the guy escape.

Did you read the part about him being picked up 10 days later in Louisiana?

Seems to me like he is already back in the facility. The journalist has a strange way of relaying facts. "May 4th Griffis escaped. He "was picked up 10 days later in Baton Rouge." She then proceeds to talk about what he was convicted of in the past and how he ended up landing a spot in Apalachee Center's mental health facility in Tallahassee...which he escaped from on May 4th and was, I'm assuming, brought back to on May 14th.

This article is so biased and unscientific. Correlation doesn't mean causation. Psychology 101. And then you rile up the local idiots in our community. But that was your intent, wasn't it?

I have no sympathy for these men or the crimes which they committed, but you can't be all, "this person did this, so naturally this one will too..." Individual circumstances must be taken into consideration. What an amateur POS article.

The premise of the article is the assumption that if a violent killer is remanded to a non-secure facility from a secure one, and if another inmate from said non-secure facility was able to abscond, then it may be notable that this violent offender could do the same and why was it deemed acceptable to move such a violent offender from a secure facility to a non-secure facility. Therein lies the premise of the article. I do think that more legal background could have been cited in the article.

You are Correct. However, Judge Miller does not hold a patent on these actions. Everyone one of these Lake Judges will do the same and even worse. Twice, once in September 2008 and again in February 2009 Judge Dick Singletary refused to take actions on a probationer James Patrick Lanier for failing his probation required drug screens. Singletary's remarks in court records "keep on supervising him." This is the man who went on to attempt a car jacking on a 80 yr old man and a second successful carjacking which ultimately resulted in Lanier hitting a Leesburg Police Officer head on and sending both to the hospital. Judge Johnson is the one who handled the man with kid gloves on many charges who lived in Royal Trails and took his fathers automatice pistol and sent officers on a wild chase down I-4 after Pharmacy robberies. Judge Hill coddled John Stoer from an old Leesburg Family and kept him on Lake County probation from 2003 until December 2008 for the original charges of sexual battery on a child under twelve, which Hill reduced to sexual battery on a child under sixteen. John Stoer after being released from local probation in December 2008 has now re-offended in Volusia county and is presently charged in that county for sexual battery on a child under twelve. This does not even touch the atrocities available from the Lake Judicial archives. Every one of these judges have accomplishments that would make a normal person stay awake at night. I suppose they have no conscience to commit these acts on the very people they are sworn to protect.

They answer to no one and they know it! Guess I could have told you the story about Judge Semento's Judicial Assistant dying in the bed with Judge Briggs. He told some people he woke up and found her dead. Apparently with her two small children also in the bed with them. Bet you didn't read that in the Slantinel or hear it on TV. They cover each other and live in their own worlds. Mucho stories abound around the courthouse. P.S. They will answer to the Real Judge someday, each and every one of them.

This hardly scratches the surface. There are many documented incidents of atrocities committed by their honor's. On the Judge Briggs incident insiders at the courthouse were rambling rumors about in which home the death occurred and some indicated they had been told that her body had been moved to her home. No one has ever come forward to substantiate these rumors. I suppose a release of the truth at the time would have suppressed all these suspicions.
