Caylee Marie Anthony (August 9, 2005 – June 16, 2008) was a two-year-old girl reported missing in Orlando, Florida in July 2008, whose remains were found in a wooded area near her home in December 2008. Her 22-year-old mother, Casey Anthony, was acquitted of first degree murder, but convicted of lying to police officers, in a televised trial in the summer of 2011 that was described by Time magazine as "the social media trial of the century."[1]
Caylee was reported missing on July 15, 2008 by her maternal grandmother, Cindy Anthony, who told the emergency dispatcher she had not seen the child for 31 days, and that Casey's car smelled as though there had been a dead body inside it. Although the mother and child lived with the grandparents, the grandmother said Casey had taken the child away for a few weeks, on what was alternately described as a business trip or holiday. It was not until July 15, she said, that Casey had admitted she had not seen her daughter for weeks.[2]
Casey at first told detectives the child had been kidnapped by her nanny on June 9, and that she had spent the time since then trying to find her, too frightened to alert the authorities.[3] It was soon discovered that the child had no nanny, and this became one of a series of stories Casey was forced to admit she had fabricated. With the child still missing, Casey was charged with first degree murder in October, pleading not guilty. Two months later, on December 11, the child's skeletal remains were found in a wooded area near the family home, wrapped in a blanket and hidden inside two bags. A CSI team found that the duct tape was attached to the skull, and the Coroner reported that this duct tape had been wrapped around the child's nose and mouth before she died, making it the murder weapon.[4]The prosecution, led by Linda Drane Burdick, sought the death penalty.[5]
The trial lasted six weeks, from May to July 2011. The prosecution alleged Casey had murdered her daughter by administering chloroform, then applying the duct tape, and that she had done so because she wanted her freedom. The defense team, led by Jose Baez, countered that the child had drowned accidentally in the family's swimming pool on June 16, 2008, and that Casey had lied about this and other issues because of a dysfunctional upbringing, which they said had included sexual abuse by her father. Casey did not take the stand, and no evidence was presented to support the defense's allegations, or to explain the abandonment of the child's remains. The defense instead sought to raise doubts about the integrity of the prosecution's case—particularly its forensic evidence—and on July 5 the jury found Casey not guilty of murder, aggravated child abuse, and aggravated manslaughter of a child, but guilty of four misdemeanor counts of providing false information to a law enforcement officer.[6] With credit for time served, she was released on July 17. The verdict was greeted with public outrage, and was both defended and attacked by media and legal commentators. Several complained that the jury had misunderstood the meaning of "reasonable doubt," while others said the prosecution had relied too heavily on the defendant's allegedly poor moral character, because it had been unable to show conclusively how the victim had died.[7]

You took your precious child from this world. The jurors may have found you "not guilty" but they are clearly saying the do not think you are innocent. We the People have found you "GUILTY" and make sure you do the time you were meant to do. It may not be behind bars, but you definitely will NOT live the *Bella Vita* like you thought you were going to. You make us sick.
Think about this baby killer....you killed one more person that Adolf Hitler and Charles Manson. Yes, you are just as sick as they are in our eyes.

Don't forget the DCF report also found her responsible for the death of her child. I believe she belongs behind bars and not out walking in the world like a free woman. Justice For Caylee!!

I live in Australia and have followed this case since the announcement that Caylee was missing.Do not welcome her mother to your state, she is globally loathed because of her terrible maternal skills, lying and self benefiting behaviour.
Since the Florida judicial system did little to prevent her continuing her sociopathic behaviour, social ostracism is the only mechanism open to us.
Caylee's mother brings nothing but trouble

If she comes around her showing off her coon-tang and and trying to flirt her way into clubs she's got another thing coming to her. My sister said she read in a mag that she wants to start a family ASAP. She's a sicko!!!!

This person was found not to be guilty as she was charged. I don't know if she killed her child or not. I do know she is guilty of something...not caring for her child as she should and not telling the truth about the disappearance. She should be made to pay for the investigation because she lied.

I want nothing to do with her. I don't hate anyone, I just don't want to be around here if at all possible.

God knows the true story.....she should be thinking about that. She will not be able to lie to HIM.

Vengeance is mine says the Lord.

An INNOCENT AMERICAN citizen is more than welcomed by me. Not guilty means not guilty regardless of what all of the ignorant Nancy Grace lovers have to say about it.

She was found not guilty by a jury. That simple. She should be free to go whereever she pleases. Maybe it shows our judicial system is as broke as our education system is. But until it is fixed - not guilty means she has to pay no more.

NO WAY IS SHE WELCOME IN TALLAHASSEE! She may have been found not guilty by a jury, but would you let her babysit your child?? She needs to rot in prison as far as I am concerned! She killed her daughter......I hope she never knows a moment of peace......

She got off because she came from such a dysfunctional family and made up so many lies no one really knew if she did do it. I believe that she did and I would never let her around my kids. She is a bona fide nutcase! And that is a fact!!!

Did you read her jail letters? I read ALL of them. She had no remorse her kid was gone. No heartbreak, nothing. It was inhuman and sick how she was so emotionless about it.

I saw a leaked video of her on youtube and she got a boob job and bleached her hair. Nice way to blend in. She talks like a mental person. I heard she is holed up in a minister's house.

I can only hope STDs render this "woman" infertile before she has more kids.
