Darrell L. Martinez

Darrell L. Martinez, 26, of Raton, passed away in Raton March 14, 2008. He was born in La Junta, Colo., Jan. 4, 1982, the son of Sherry Gwyn Martinez and Dickie Martinez. He was a heavy equipment operator for the natural gas pipeline and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Raton. Darrell was preceded in death by his grandfather Kenneth Darrell Coon and grandfather Lester Lee Gwyn. He is survived by his mother Sherry Martinez of Raton, grandmother Darlene Coon of Raton, his father Dickie Martinez of Phoenix, sisters Donna Gardner and husband John of Raton, Keena Martinez and Kerri Martinez of Raton, brothers Tanner Martinez and Preston Martinez of Raton, and Marshall Martinez of Los Angeles. Send my sympathy to the family... Unfortunately its goen to be another sad case that is closed without further investigation due to who the suspects of the homidcide involve and the victim. Its all based on how well your "LAST name" is known & liked in the community. Again the results of being judged by the RPD and Colfax County DA... You've got hispanic -vs- anglo, who do you think will be at fault...?

Ya another sad case! It was very nice of the family to include his fathers name in the obituary considdering he was never there for him. I can't say or think of one thing that his father ever did for him. He was the best kid ever and deserved the world. I love you and miss you Darrell.
