I don't know what happened, (he could have passed out or whatever) but he was probably speeding down Dutch Broadway like a fool.

That has to be the dumbest and most inproper statement made.
You do realize that Jeff has a mother and family who are beside themselves?
You should really edit your comment before someone takes actions into there own hands. Jeff was a good guy who had more friends than you will ever know...If anyone is the moron its you!

Do you realize that he could have killed someone else by driving like an idiot?
You should really look at the facts and what could have happened before you defend that freak.
Maybe he should have thought of his friends and family before driving foolishly.
I bet you blame the tree for being in his way.
to bad he didnt hit you

to the person with the arrogant in insensitive comment... i hope you die in an accident that was not your fault so that we can all tell the world what a piece of sh*t you were and how you deserved it. It could have easily been you in that car, and I'm sure if the guy who is now dead was here he would NEVER say something like what you said. A person died in a tragic accident.. a person with a family and friends. I don't even know the guy but I feel terrible for what happened. NO ONE deserves to die like that, accident or not. I'm assuming you are perfect and have never gone 1 mph over the speed limit right? To the family... you are in my prayers.

See, this is where people get confused and take things out of context. Going over the "speed limit "is not "speeding" as they are artificially set low, especially in NY. It does not mean you are driving recklessly either, everyone does 70mph on the parkway just fine. However, going down Dutch Broadway at excessive speeds (Key word, excessive), fast enough to lose control and crash into a tree, thats another story. See the difference?

Did you not see the picture? http://www.newsday.com/media/photo/2008-05/38... . See the nice spoiler and muffler? He made it a habit to drive like a fool and show off.

Actually, you are kind of contradicting yourself. A speed limit is just that... a "limit", meaning the maximum speed for that road. So I don't care who told you what about this "artificial speed limit" crap, but speeding is speeding. Lastly, I could care less how it happened and how fast he was going... he did not kill anyone else. He is dead, and that is a terrible tragedy. So have some god damn respect for the guy and if you aren't mature enough to keep to yourself in a situation like this, me and I'm sure thousands of other people reading your juvenile remarks would be glad to come shut you up.

Actually "speed limit" means "when we, the police, need some money or to make quota we'll be out to ticket you"

Ignorant? Lets not pretend that people with cars like that don't drive like show offs? Lets not confuse "truth" with "ignorant & disrespectful"

Its like those people who crash on the Southern State. "Oh no!! That road is so dangerous!!" Yeah, when you're going 95mph around those curves, of course you're going to crash into the overpass.

"Fatal one-car accident in Elmont"

This wasn't anaccident, it was a crash. Speeding is intentional just as the subsequent crash.
