at the website that was listed by amazzzed there is a town called queen valley? would that be what there refering to meaning queen creek?
there is a queen creek, santan valley and queen valley. QV is east of AJ (apache junction). its more of an area than it is a town. |

well i spoke to the fellow at adeq today and learned that the entire phoenix metroplex has air quality problems. He gave me all the explanations as to why. He said that queen creek area has a real dust problem that is being worked on but once development begins again it could be a major issue. now that im done with that. im a 61 year old who is recently single and would be looking for a lady friend. what if any are the activities there in queen creek that a feller might run into a damsel in distress?

You know, one thing I have noticed here, or at least the area I have been in so far here in QC, is that the population seems to be younger. I'd say the majority is 30's - 40's. I was in Apache Junction the other day and that populations seems to be 60's +. I am sure part of it is the numerous retirement communities up there. The other day when that dust storm was in full force I also noticed it was worse up in Apache Junction/Mesa area than it was down here. Not that it wasn't dusty, because it was, but not as bad at all. |

unless its extremely windy you don't think about the dust but you are breathing it in just the same. how did adeq explain their own website (the one i sent you) that said the air quality isn't that bad? it said air quality, was it for something else? |
so tell me are there any groups or organizations there in qc that a person can get involved in.
in reference to the adeq. air quality is measured by ozone and particulates in the air. if you go to adeq and search their site you can find a annual report of the conditions in the phoenix metro area including queen creek. in conclusion the fellow who works there said the east valley is the better of all the areas.

well im coming that way in febuary. im being told by all the wellwishers that im making a mistake and that i will regret relocating to that area. I have been told that the heat is unbearable and that i wont be able to take it there. Well i thought i should ask those who live it. I know that last febuary i had 4 inches of ice in my front yard here. wont miss that

before i came out i heard the same comments as you. these comments were from people that have never spent time here and they just didn't know. a 100 degree day in AZ is much more comfortable than a 100 degree day in the midwest. a few things cause that, low humidity and the gentle breeze. now 115 is a different story and to make it worse the humidity is higher in the monsoon mornings. 115 in monsoon is about equal to 95 in the midwest with its higher humidity. so you have to ask what is more comfortable, warm or cold. for me personally i spend much more time outside when its really hot than i did in OH when it was really cold but everyone is different. i suspect most people feel the same as me which is why the population is growing. if you can take warm days (and nights) for a few months you will have it made for the remainder of the year.:) |

What's better, Queen Creek or Apache Junction?
I'm a 59 year old guy and I'm tired of the cold wet rainy winters too. I heard Apache Junction was more spread out. |

lol...its all spread out....QC is newer, nicer. AJ is closer to the Superstition Mountains...right under them actually...and has nice views...also has a lot more older folks living in trailer parks (some are really nice though)...QC is more younger family oriented and has lots more shopping/stores etc. |

do you need to travel to the bigger cities frequently? AJ has easy access to the major roads and their road system is better in general. housing is more expensive in AJ. if you're looking for a bargain and don't travel much QC and STV (san tan valley) is the place to be. when you move here you will wonder why people EVER tolerated the cold temps and cloudy days.:) |

Steve Smith & Amazzed-
Thanks for the responses! |

okay i had some of the same questions. I have been to both qc and aj. your right qc is more housing and less trailer park style living. more subdivisions and families. Ive been told that aj is terrible in the winter with all the snowbirds as the traffice is a problem and waiting in line to eat. But once again just people talking. I also heard that you want to watch where you live in aj do to some bad neighborhoods.

Hi All,
What are the nice subdivisions to own a home in the Queen Creek area? What are the Villiages of Queen Creek or Queen Creek Manor? Thanks |
I have lived in Queen Creek since 1995 and I LOVE IT. It has changed quite a bit but I still think it is great. The area you will hear the most complaints about is the San Tan Valley area (also known as Johnson Ranch) and this is mainly because of traffic issues. It is located in the San Tan Mountains, surrounding foot hills and desert. It is an absolutely beautiful area with amazing views. I will never understand how the developer got away with such a large planned area with such limited access. The home prices are AMAZING in this area. It would be perfect for someone who worked from home or didn't have to drive to work during rush hour. There are some great subdivisions that are closer to town and still very reasonable. I would take a look at the Villages or Queensland Manor. These subdivisions would cut off a half hour or more to your commute compared to the San Tan Valley area. Also I would check out Pecan Creek, Circle Cross Ranch or San Tan Heights. They are located in the San Tan Valley area but are on the outskirts and so you are still seeing really great prices but not as long as a commute. There are also a ton of horse properties available through out Queen Creek. I just did a Queen Creek Real Estate Market Update last week with maps and statistics. You can find it here http://tarrasellsaz.wordpress.com/2009/11/06/...
