After viewing the video of the last council meeting, I think the mayor is clearly a victim of bullying! The Attorney General should step in and clean this ugliness up!

Well we have excellent news to report from Quartzsite today. It looks like there will be a “Total Recall” for ALL sitting Quartzsite Town Council Members. The “Recall Papers” were officially submitted Thursday at Town Hall for the remaining Council Members. There were in excess of 50 additional signatures collected than required. Bet you end up seeing a sad sack fairy-tale in that rag called the Desert Messenger trying to defend the defenseless!

I lived for years in Quartzsite until even a blind man could see that their was an unhealthy movement by people in the town government trying to destroy the very thing that made Quartzsite such a fun and interesting place to live and visit.
We tried to stay in hopes that conditions would change back, but with the increase in police harassment compounded with what other people that lived in Quartzsite have seen to push out the venders and snowbirds, it was time to leave. We had hoped to have bought a home and move out of our trailer but we could not justify living any longer in a dying town.
It is sad when the town manager stated that they (the town) didn’t care about the business, venders, and snowbirds. The town got all the money they needed from the truck stops. I for one don’t want to live in a truck stop only town with all the problems that they bread!

At the last council meeting, Council member Patricia Anderson shared the new building projects and updates that are occuring in town. W. Main St. is changing with businesses expanding along with many improvements! Even old buildings are receiving a breath of new life!

With all the new changes, it sure doesn't look like a truck stop town at all!
If Quartzsite was just a truck stop town, no one would care. There are many folks who do care about other things than just politics! I have been told that all this negative talk hurts our local businesses, and many told me they're tired of all the trash talk! They want to thrive in Quartzsite! They want to be a success, and that can't happen with focus on the negative! So let's stop all that negative complaining!

If we are more respectful to each other in our communications and actions, people will be more open to new ideas and suggestions. However, constantly belittling others and our town is not helping the situation!

Growth and "shift" happens in our world everyday! It's how we respond to it that defines us as a society. Wanting things to go back to how it was 30 years ago would not allow you to be anoymous in these postings. Can't have it both ways.

If folks get involved in volunteering, there are many opportunities to make a difference!

Well Flower Child from the Desert Rag, why don’t you put down that warm touchy felling book you have been reading and tell the full story instead of what you are told to. While I agree that Ted’s Truck Stop needs to be placed back into a pro active status, you still fails to speak to business and vendors that I have been told have been refused business license renewals! You were not in Quartzsite 30 years ago so how can you speak of it? From what I have seen and been told it was a great place to winter. I have seen it when there were over 1 million people here and you could go from dawn to late nigh having fun, great eats, and live entertainment. Yes the people were happy and loved to be in Quartzsite. Your vision of Quartzsite was one of the reasons I moved!

If you are so tired of all the negative complaining why haven’t you completed some investigative reporting so you could tell both sides of the story? I for one haven’t see you explain the State of Arizona’s ban on any new development until the Town of Quartzsite addresses the water and sewer problems and requirements!

Before I left I talked with vender after vender as well as many snowbirds that said that this was the last season for them and Quartzsite. The main problems were with Town Hall and the Quartzsite Police Department.

You may live in a bubble filled with wacky tabacie, but for the rest of us the venders and snowbirds were the backbone of this town! While the town doesn’t care, the people that live in Quartzsite do and many are placing their homes up for sale and can’t sell them. I have a young girl that I need to protect and with the history of Quartzsite’s Police Department and their Chief of Police protecting his cops that like fresh young meat I will not take any chances on her becoming the next notch on one of their gun buts!

Free at Last,
UPDATE: There is a state ban on raising development or IMPACT FEES for two years. Since Quartzsite does not have impact fees, this does not affect us at all. If anything it encourages developers to consider Quartzsite because the costs of development are so low.

As my previous post states, there IS activity in Quartzsite: new building and improvements occuring right this minute in Quartzsite! All one needs to do is drive around town or attend a planning and zoning meeting or council meeting to see what is actually happening!

Too bad you weren't at last night's Quartzsite Country Bash where Harry Luge and his band performed at Quartzsite Town Park! Old and young alike enjoyed the day! Even Harry Luge liked having police there, to keep the peace! The "warm, touchy" feelings of peace, joy and a sense of community were felt by all present! Mr. Luge felt the kindness of our community and wants to return!
It truly took a village for this event to happen. Volunteers, even town employees off the clock, put in hundreds of hours! Kudos to Monica Timberlake and her team! The folks at town hall also fully supported this community funfilled event!
So the cup is not so half empty after all!

Have you already forgotten the housing development project on north 95 that never got past the demo home or the high priced homes off Quail Trail that went belly up? As for the planning committee meetings, a friend of mine that still lives in Quartzsite up visiting was telling us that one of the board members didn’t remove himself because of a conflict of interest and voted to pass special zoning worth the big bucks to his friend.

How can anyone believe in your reporting when you dance around the issues and fail to print the full facts. It’s like you tell everyone that there is a free feed at the Town Park but fail to report that the main course is all the road kills from last month! Before you start slandering other people maybe you should start by cleaning your own house and maybe take some journalism classes and see how real reporting is done. As Na-Na was so fond of saying,“A patch of snow does not make a winter!” As for me, Bar-B-Q Coyote on a stick just doesn’t do anything for me…

Mz. Rain, I have observed that you seem to be looking at Quartzsite and the Town Government through a pair of rose-colored glasses while attempting to justify their criminal behavior with readings from philosophers thinking that they hold the secrets to life. Your quoits remind me of the old Sit-Com “F Troop” along with the famous Hekawis sayings like,“When the full moon rises high in the sky, the tree squirrel will bark 3 times over the antlers of the moose”! While it does sound inspirational and intelligent, it has a lot in common with your quoits. While it sounds good, it solves nothing, nor offers up any help in solving the problems at hand.

Hey Desert Viper. Or should I say, Dragon Master, still stirring it up down there? Sure do miss Jade's satire. When is she getting out of jail?

I guess you must be miss informed as Jade's satire is still alive and well. Who told you she was in jail? However, she is putting on the finishing touches to send some people to the big house and a personal meeting with Bubba!

Don’t look at the Town Budget coming out of the red ink anytime soon. I have seen the pictures of the Al Johnson without a warrant or permission trespassing on Richard Oldham’s property. Not only that I was told by someone there that the town was trying to cut an extension for west Main Street right through the main active runway for the airport!

Lets see, I was told that Al Johnson doesn’t have any Arizona Contractors License and can’t hold the post as building inspector but heads the towns building department. So why is he inspection a power box that he isn’t qualified to pass judgment on much less try to violate FAA regulations! Better do your homework Johnson you’re playing with the big boys now that have the money and power to put you back in your place in Kalifornia were you belong! Damage in any way that airport and you will have the FAA stepping in with the power of the Federal Department of Justice!

It's about "CIVIL RIGHTS" being infringed upon in Quartzsite, AZ. So stick your head in the sand and be happy, because you really DON'T care about the people.

My buddy just informed me that there will be a new town paper that will offer both points of view and the entire story come this December. He tells me that it will promote both the venders and snowbirds and keep track of all the town actions and/or violations so we will have all the facts. I wonder if they will offer a mailer subscription to their paper?

It won't get better until the "Desert Messenger" is out of print! Ms Rain and Mr Star are nothing more than propaganda peddlers for the lawless town officials in the opinion of most of us locals. But hey, when you only surround yourselves with "yes men" you can't see the desert for the cactus - if you get my drift. More videos of police misconduct posted on that blog today. What will it take for the citizens to stand up and take back our town? I for one welcome the part timers. Thanks for coming! Some of us are trying to make it better.

Well I guess it is official now, Quartzsite in now in the seller about to cave into the septic tank. Got word through the Cholla Telegraph that the owners of the Desert Rag lost their attempt to shut down their competitor through a boo-ho complaint that was so full of holes that the judge through it out. To add to Quartzsite’s problems a request in the Federal Courts to grand an Injunction to stop new regulations that many feel are unlawful against the 2010 venders has been filed.

If that isn’t bad enough, Chief Jeff Gilbert and his “I don’t need to follow the law” posse have been making false arrest of political opponents of the members of the town council and town employees! I have been told to make sure that next time I travel through Quartzsite, have a video camera charged and ready!
