Soldier accused of base shooting returns to Kuwait
#1 Jul 26, 2009
I don't see how Lt. Col. Breasseale can say that giving details "would be detrimental to the outcome of the probe." What probe? John's world was falling apart and no one gave a damn about him. He was already showing signs of ptsd, his father had stomach surgery, his son has cysts in his liver, his father-in-law has cancer, he was behind in his mortgage and afraid of losing his house, and if that wasn't enough he was being harassed by two officers and the stress clinic wasn't paying attention to him. It wasn't until he snapped that people started paying attention to him and in a negative way. If that isn't enough they sent him to Quantico only to have him return to Kuwait. Is he a Kuwaiti? No. I can't believe that they don't have legal facilities here in the States to carry out his trial. Why send a mentally stressed man back to a hostile situation if not to harass and try to lynch him. I didn't know that he was still deployable in his condition. This is no probe-this is more of a cover-up. Another issue is why is he being charged with murder instead of manslaughter. Apparently he had just been in an argument with the clinic staff and came back and shot them. He didn't wait a day or two or think of a plan to bump them off. He was enraged and committed the act in the heat of passion and was indiscriminant about who he shot. Can they understand what despair he must have been feeling to have committed this act?
