Holiday Season? It's Christmas! It makes me sick to my stomach that this country is getting rid of it.

Good for you Mike. It is Christmas and it is about Jesus and no one else. When are people going to get it? It's not about them. Shame on you Marines. This country was founded on the word of God in the Declaration of Independance and the Constitution and it is the country you defend. Our rights. If Jesus was standing next to you would you turn your back on Him? He hasn't turned His on you!

I actually disagree. Aren't children who celebrate other holidays entitled to receive a gift from the Marines too? Christmas is one day of the year; there are many other holidays celebrated during the winter months. It was my understanding that this country was founded because people were sick of being told how and when to worship. They came here for the freedom to practice whatever religion they choose, not just Christianity. That freedom even includes the right to practice no religion at all.

Mike and DLK, thanks for having what it takes to say what you did. Christ is definitely being taken out of Christmas. God Bless You Both.

Noooo... YOU celebrate Christmas. But other religions celebrate other holidays in December. I'd like to see your reaction if YOUR government was handing out Mohammed dolls to all the little white kids.

If I were to celebrate a Religious holiday from another ethnic group I would expect to get something that relates to their celebration. Christmas is about the birth of Jesus. It is a Christian celebration. Not a Corporate holiday for more profit.

If you don't like it or believe in it, don't celebrate it.

I thought Toys for Tots was for ALL children regardless of religious backgrounds.....I really don't think a jewish or muslim child would appreciate or even understand a talking "jesus doll". This is a holiday drive...NOT a christmas drive!

You are correct... it amazes me that people take offense to this organization caring about others' beliefs.

Liz, you have your opinion too, and your right, but don't take Christmas away from us. It won't be long till they take out "one nation under God" from the Pledge of Allegiance, and "In God We Trust" off our currency because it offends some people.

I think this is just wrong. Who is Toys for Tots to decide who can have the doll? I think the Marines should deliver them anyway, what Jew or Muslim would refuse a Talkin' Plastic Jesus when it's delivered on the barrel of an Abrams tank?

A direct quote from the MArines Toys for Tots Website:

U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program

MISSION: The mission of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program is to collect new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December each year, and distribute those toys as Christmas gifts to needy children in the community in which the campaign is conducted.

They give the toys as CHRISTmas gifts. So why did they refuse CHRIST dolls?

I cannot believe anyone would try to send such a gift to a child. It would interfere with the parental teachig of the family. How would these people feel if someone gave their child a Mohammed Doll, or even a satanic doll?

That's exactly right. If they want to hand out "other holiday" gifts, then they had better change their statement of purpose, and stop relying on donations from people who are expecting them to be giving out Christmas gifts.

They could just stick them on the lawn with all the other "Christmas"/Mardi Gras decorations like the giant snowglobes, talking reindeer, singing santa heads, and so on. Let's not forget the fist fights for parking spots, and rude impatient shoppers. That's what it is all about.

What Jew even needs a "hand out" gift for their child? I'm NOT Jew bashing here either. Jews are not poor people niether are terr. I mean muslims. If they recieve the free gift and don't want it they can either give it away, sell it or throw it out! But why stand in someone elses way who may really need it? Like it or not, it is a Federal holiday and Christains celebrate the berth of Jesus on this date.

Another thought, Toys for tots uses Christmas to pump up their cause and then denies the meaning of Christmas. If toys for ALL kids were that important to them why don't they give out toys in July? A Christmas in July type of thing? Toys for Tots are fonies and no longer will I be giving to them!
