I understand that at this time it might be difficult to find people who are willing to served on this fine establishment's board of directors, however their most recent appointment is of great concern to me. I am sure she is capable of being a fine managerbof the Quanah Branch of the Chillicothe National Bank Quanah Branch, howewver is it not a conflict of interest since this lending institution has financed so many of the business ventures that the hospital embarked upon. I just am saddened that there have been qualified people who have expressed interest in serving on this fine board as they have actually sought electionto a position, that the current baord must be so threatened by their knowledge that they choose someone who has not previously been interested in serving to appoint to this board. I hate to say this, but it looks as though we are in for more of the same old garbage.

It is most definitely a conflict of interest in my books. It does not surprise me at all. These clowns continue to play the same ole game. They do not want anyone that might disagree with them and their lack of abiity to run a hospital. Birds of a feather-flock together. For sure.

Just absolutely sickening! "oh please don't blame the board" For gosh sakes, they are ALL to blame! They were warned over and over, but refused to even ask to see the books. For Pete's sake, an imaging center in Marble Falls? They should all be impeached! You were totally right Debbie and you have the right to say "I told you so" to the whole bunch! Close it down and build us a state of the art ER. That's all we need anyway. An Activities director for the hospital for what freaken purpose? The office people's entertainment? There's never any patients!

nothing will ever change here.people will continue to be duped by these politicians and alot of money will be wasted all in the name of building ones ego.on the bright side though our future generations will be far more intelligent than us though.why is that though.
because artificial turf will eventually lead to higher test scores,wait...what?

instead of turf and building a courthouse to better quanah maybe quanahians should follow in the footsteps of the amish and send their women to other communities to become impregnated.

why don't the commissioners and the city council work together to find solutions to the water and sewage problems? Seems if they could get a grant that size for courthouse renovations, perhaps one could have been worked on for things we really need. Aren't they charged with working towards solutions to the betterment of the county and the city?

a $4m historical courthouse is an amazing feat for a city that is on its way to being history, and perhaps we could rename it the Ronald Ingram Memorial -- what a legacy that would be. Sorry Ronnie - just a bit groused that you guys have your heads up a dark spot and your priorities a bit out of whack

The courthouse grant became available through a Texas Historical Commissions' program designed to fund restoration of Historicaical Courthouses in Texas. This program targeted counties that otherwise would not likely hahave funds to do it on their own. That Quanah was selected speaks to the organizations recognition that Quanah has potential to remain viable. Quanah is fortunate to be a recipient of those funds twice. Being a recipient of these funds places Quanah in a much better position to obain other grants. This is indeed a program that is for the betterment of both counties and cities. Most importantly a granting agency was available to do such a project. Grant funds are scarce these days. We can write lots of grants only if such grants are available. The city does write grants to Nortex who funds programs for city infrastructure. I believe they have received a few but so far have not been successful enough to make a very visible showing. I agree that we should have a concerted effort to identify granting agencies and make every effort to obtain other grants. QEDC could , under the new Corp B rules, do more to make Quanah better. You are a very astute young woman Debbie....would you consider helping find available grants and writing?

you either need to double up on your old people pills or quit taking them all together because you are delirious.
it is good that quanah got a grant,or two,but who covers the remaining 15%,WE DO.
the courthouse has never been maintained the way it needs to be and it will be even more obvious after the restoration.i guess it will it in with quanah and the county because they arein dire need of adequate maintenance also.
what will make this place better is when all the people take of their rose colored glasses and realize what this town and the people are all about.

Norma, I would be happy to learn to write grants for things that Quanah needs..... water, street repairs, sewer and sanitation services and repairs. A city police department. Any police department.

I am not going anywhere. This is my home, by choice and not because I don't have the ability to go elsewhere. I want to see Quanah once again thrive, but in all honesty, the leadership we have now is not going to get it done. Too old, too set in their ways, too self-absorbed, too apathetic and willing to accept the status quo.

Yes the Courthouse was not maintained very well. Leaky windows, doors, poor insulation etc. equal high maintainence costs. The upgrades will help with those costs. Better rose colored glasses than glasses so dark you can only see the bad side of things. One gives hope the other despair. You should try a pair of the rose colored ones for a while. Might help make you a happier person.
As for the old people pills, I do take blood pressure pills for mild high blood pressure. I think maybe you might benefit from some though.

Glad to hear that Debbie. Even though I was gone for many years, Quanah has always been my home and this is where I will stay. I love this country and my home town. As you know I have been a bit out of commission this past year but as soon as I get this foot out of the cast I intend to be back on board and would like to work with you. I spent a career writing grants and even though they were for scientific projects the forum is the same. Hardest thing is to find the granting agencies where our needs fit. I am a bit old but I think I can more than carry my weight. As for leadership.....there are two places coming up for City Council...hint!

Yes there was maintainence just not very effective given the state and age of the equipment.

Too bad....take off the dark ones for awhile....Best glasses are indeed clear and if you compare both rose and dark you will find the balance to appreciate the clear. If you don't like things the way they are....get busy and help make things better. But first you have to envision how they should be.....rose colored glasses.
