Today on the news there were lists of towns that were changing their trick or treat night until Saturday. Quakertown however is not.
So tonite we can go out and hopefully not trip over down trees and wires,

Another reason why I dream of having enough money to leave this town.

Frankie,

I concur. I hate living in this God forsaken place. My Electric bill has a balance of $1300. I have been on a "budget" plan for a year where I pay $380 a month. In one year of payments I was supposed to be even. It will be one year in March. My balance is currently $300 higher than the $1000 balance it was when I started.

Now, my kids want to trick or treat and I have to take them out in this crappy weather to trip over leaves, sticks, branches and other nameless debris because they can's just make a decision to do in on Saturday.

Oh and lest we for get that while a fallen telephone pole sat precariously on electrical lines on 9th street, the fire department was at the municipal building fixing the coup that fell over.

No one began work on those lines till well after noon and guess what the power went back on at 3:30ish.

I HATE QUAKERTOWN!!!

I was just talking about this with co-workers. That does seem a bit dangerous, but at least the boro has power. Still, better to play it safe.

That would be correct. We had a major storm roll though leaving power lines, trees, and a lot more.
One very good reason to postpone Halloween.
I'm guessing local guy isn't helping with the cleanup. If he was he would see the dangers for children.

I guess Qtown has too much money and is looking to give some away when a child gets hurt or worse. I'm glad they are using my tax dollars wisely.

The residents of Walnut Bank Farm have overuled Tim Arnold's decree to have Halloween on Saturday afternoon. Walnut Bank Farm is a GO for Tonight. Stay off the street Arnold!! Happy Halloween!!

Have you been through the boro today? There are no power lines down as all power has been restored. I've been through town just to see what all has happened in the storm and was surprised at how cleaned up the town is. Trees that are down are cleared from the roads and sidewalks so unless your kids are running through someones yards they'll be as safe as any other night out.

Would I send my kids out alone tonight to go Trick or Treating? No, but I never would send my kids out alone and in the dark on any night. I'll be with them carrying my flashlight and we will have a fun safe night.

FYI: Seems all the boros in the area, Trumbauersville, Richlandtown and Quakertown are having Trick or Treat tonight.

In the townships it seems some developments are doing their own things regardless of what their leaders decree.

I live on the north side of Q-town boro and don't see any issues with having trick-or-treating tonight in town as long as the power's on for porch and streetlights.

Maybe the townships have more unsafe conditions then in the boroughs?

Compared to other places I've lived, I think this town does a pretty good job overall.

Have I been out today? Yes, about 10 times. Why don't you ask your local firefighters and EMTs how much sleep they have gotten. Your little neck of the woods may be just fine. Areas are still without power and we are getting new downed wires calls even today.
But don't worry, if your kids get hurt because they could not wait until Saturday, we will be there to help them.

So far no problems around here - more trick-or-treaters than normal - parents escorting nearly all of them. Nobody reporting any issues - people seem happy (except for some people on here).

Good luck if a tree falls on you. The ground is still heavily saturated and trees were severely compromised only a irresponsible parent would bring a child out tonight.

The ENTIRE Boro had electric by this afternoon and debris was removed and cleared so how would the BORO be any less safe today than it would Sat? You people just love to find something to bitch about regardless of how how wrong you are. So just stay in your bitter little world of make believe you petty trolls.
