With Meyer's and Clemens gone, does anyone know where to get funny cake locally? We're dying for some!

We get our pies at Lisa's Kitchen outside of Steinsberg, Milford Township. You can find them on the web at Pappy's Orchard Lisa's Kitchen.

It's a PA "delicacy!"

If you're born and raised around here, you know what it is, including shoo fly pie as well.

No, it's called funny cake. It has a pie crust, cake top and chocolate bottom...to die for!!!

Thanks so much! I imagine the Landis's in Telford would have it too.

Believe it or not, the shoo fly pies at Redner's are pretty good!

My wife makes killer black bottom cupcakes for the kids (and me too!).

If you like shoo fly pie give a Mollasses cake a try!
Its probably very hard to find cake.
Its delicious and has that shoo fly taste but is often moist and not dry like some shoo flys are even the wet bottom ones.

I come from the land of Hard rolls and Tomato Pie.
Not a fan of Pa Dutch cooking at all. Never had a funny cake. Maybe I will try it. Does it taste like Shoo Fly Pie?

Haven't tried them lately, but I was disappointed in their shoo-fly pies. Not enough goo on the bottom.

Thanks to the OP for asking this question, by the way. I love funny cakes and haven't had one since Boyers closed. Clemens were definitely the best, after the ones my mom used to make.

Have you ever been to Shady Maple Smörgåsbord in Lancaster? Best PA Dutch cooking around! They have shoo flies, funny cakes etc. in their grocery store as well. There's also a bakery on 340 in Bird in Hand, I believe, that sells them too.

It is completely different from Shoo fly. Again, pie crust, wet chocolate bottom, about 1/2 thick, and a cake-like top, which usually gets a nice golden brown from the oven.

Damn, I'm hungry now!!!

That's funny cake, but a little sad looking though! The ones from Clemens and Meyers were fluffier looking...and really tasted good, too!

Pretty good, isn't it? My wife and kids have been in the mood for one for quite some time now, but I didn't know where to get one.
