Why is it that a strip club is set to open in Quakertown before Thanksgiving at the old Avanti Restaurant on route 663 and residents are not aware?

Right by the turnpike too, so all the scumbags from downtown Allentown and Philadelphia can just be free to roam Quakertown after they leave there!!!

Where are the people of Quakertown that are supposed to be looking out for our best interests!

Don't think I will stay in this town to raise my family!

The people of Quakertown had no idea. It's MILFORD. And where were you? You can be just as informed as the rest of us if YOU WANT TO. Be informed....GET INVOLVED.

And I highly doubt that people from Allentown or Philly are going to come to our little exit off the turnpike to see some T & A. It's probably going to be your or my neighbors in that place. So why even move? They have been here all along.

Lisa...just an FYI
the location you are talking about is in Milford Township.
Quakertown Boro. would never allow that sort of thing for good reason in the borough...its not the image we are trying to make Quakertown. So before you say "in Quakertown" make sure you have the correct municipality

Oh, and i have not heard of any such place coming there, unless it is being kept really tightlipped. Are you hearing this from word of mouth? rumor? Where have you gotten your information?

I used to work for the restaurant when it was Avanti. A friend went in there to put in an application, and the poles are up!!!--Believe it or not, it's here and opening soon!!!

I believe it was dragged up to a 'gentleman's club' status.

You know 30 dollar drinks and 100 dollar champagne that is really Asti Spumanti

I do worry about he lap dance crap.

MRSA and all, those poles should be prety nasty at the end of the night.

Go to the jerks that brought you the irradiater, they thought that ws cute too.

make a stink, Make a mob....go to the next meeting and thrash them all on the council.Get rowdy , tip off the news that you will be there....be one of those contentious mobs.

Or as they say in Richland a 'flash mob'

You have no police in Milford, Richland is short and Q'town probably won't touch you with a ten foot pole.

The state police are in Dublin You do have a problem. Isn't there a new development behind that location?

Well I'll be, Coyote's sign is up! I myself would like to know how this was not reported to the public. Way to go Free Press! I have some serious issues with this passing Milford Townships table without it being addressed by surrounding neighborhoods. I have nothing against gentlemans clubs opening and have no concerns of "hoodlems" driving here from other areas seeing other areas have their own clubs. I DO have concerns over it being policed by State Troopers and the response time should there ever be a problem there. Come on Lisa even Harleysville, the Menonite capital of Mongtomery County has had cloud nine for YEARS with no real issues to talk about as far as crime or trouble.

Is there any fact to this rumor. I have heard this before a few years ago and nothing happened. Where is this information coming from?

Is the major concern one of 'distaste' and NIMBY or a real concern for crime? Would there be as much concern if there were no 'naked performance artists', but a bar which routinely drew a 'problematic' crowd of dysfunctional and rambunctious under-achievers instead? How much time do Richland Police spend at other drinking venues in the area where people are fully clothed and no one is up in arms over their existence.

If your concern regards the strippers, then speak out against that. If your concern is for the element it will draw, then you'd better find some documentation to support that.

I lived half a block from a strip club in Michigan for a number of years. No problems with the strip club, but plenty of problems at the laundrymat.

I worked across the street from a strip club in Virginia. It was so inoccuous that many thought it was a family restaurant with boarded up windows. There was more activity at the Ramada Inn.

Did this business require variances from Milford in order to open? If not, then I don't see how there is much that could have been done. There should have been more foresight in the zoning. If variances were required, then it should have been made public.

Not Amused by your comments, Jimbo.

If you don't have anything useful to add, why bother commenting?

We are pissed off as hell that the public was not made aware of what was going on and the last decision made by the board that was approved was a "sports bar", not a "strip club". Last time I visited a sports bar, people were still clothed!

Provided no zoning changes or variances are involved, Boards of Supervisors do not need to approve any incoming businesess provided they meet the current zoning requirements.

Were any zoning changes or variances required for this new use?

Just out of curiosity, what exactly does the sign say? does it just say "Coyote's Sports Bar" or does it give indication that it is a "strip" club?

I will have to look again this afternoon, all I recall seeing was the Coyote's in the same lettering as the old Avanti sign.

You need a journalist badge now.

Has anyone tried to climb a brass pole while naked? It may be a stretch, but it might qualify as a sport.

Thanks for taking the time to do that little story Haywood and bringing this issue to the attention of the community. I am extremely upset that my community would allow this to happen and I plan on making a stand against this filth. I find it funny that no one answered the door at Coyote’s even though there were cars in the parking lot. I myself have been in the building and I’ve seen the poles and the dance floor. I happened to stop on the way home from work the other day to pick up an application when I still believed it was a sport’s bar and I saw everything. I had heard both rumors, one that it was a sports bar and the other that it was a strip club. The poles I saw only confirmed my fears. I could be wrong though, I guess the fire department could be coming in to train on the poles after dark! It is a possibility! Believe it though; I saw it with my own eyes!

Vote with your feet. Don't go there if you disapprove. The businesses which have inhabited that site haven't had very good luck so let's see what happens.

Now, if they owners pulled the wool over the Milford Supervisors' eyes, that's another matter.

People tend to drive within a 5 mile radius for a restaurant and 15 miles or more for a strip club. Our feet won't matter. I would be pi**ed if I just put a deposit down on one of the Ryan homes that is going up right near there.
