Does anyone remember the motorcycle race track behind the Q-Mart? We would go there after a few hours of pinball at the Q-mart.

I remember the motorcycle race track behind the Q-Mart. They also had a livestock auction back there. Does anyone remember the S&H greenstamp store at the corner in the plaza where the Giant is now? I left Quakertown area from 1968-1976 but when I came back I think it was called Pantry Pride then beside the stamp place. Back to the Q-Mart I remember when bingo was in there. I still am enjoying all the old memories. Please keep it going!!

Hey Bud get a life... That's called progress and it happen all over... This thread was created to remember "the good old days"... I repeat get a life and leave the people on this thread alone!!!
"Progress" means "to develop in a positive way; advancement; gradual growth or development; the act of moving forward". Is the loss of the barber shop in the Liberty Bell building or Ed's Jewelry Store(s) or The Main Street Theatre or the fabric store where the pool parlor on Broad St is located indicitive of better present days? Possibly not.

The loss of the special pump at the sewer plant that used to be illegally activated when the system was overrun and pumped raw sewage into the creek is surely a sign of positive progress.

Everybody has special memories of the things that have perished but some (like the annoying noise from the QMart race track) can be remembered without being missed or considered part of "the good old days".

Remember when Boyer's was the IGA, then the A$P originally?
Also, Shive's Bakery at the other end of the shopping center.
Here's a goodie: This shopping center, the Country Square, and Pennsburg Square were partially owned by Larry Kane at one time.
I remember A&P and Shives bakery but I didn't know about Larry Kane

Wasn't there a children's clothing store at Quakertown Plaza for a short time?It was on the corner where part of Giant is. The side where the dreaded speedbump is.

So, unhappy with your lives writers on these threads, Get a Life! Give it up! Do something meaningful!
Life as you once knew it has changed. Love the past and let it go into your memories or write long missals for your imagined offspring Then it would now be memorialized in print so (again let it go)!
Let us move on to tomorrow.

Does anybody remember the school rock and guarding it against the Pennridge Rams on the night before the Thanksgiving Day game. Did anyone's class ever hang banners from the football light standards?

Hmmm... Or, as our, and many other families can attest, from throughout the town and neighboring areas, and from the picnic grove at Quakertown Memorial Park every nice Sunday afternoon! Always the "who" and not with the "what"? Glad you enjoyed the ride. Many of hundreds of your neighbors disliked the noise! Enjoy your memory and ignore ours!

I seen that the "Lobster" sign that used to be on Trainers then went to TGIF is going to be kept at the Q-town historical center.

Cheryl, you're addressing the OWNER of Q-Mart in your post, not a nearby resident. Ignore him. He doesn't live here, nor does he share our fond memories of years gone by.

Only the OWNER of the Q-Mart would have known about noise complaints. Right, Richard?

Don't you DARE you "our" when referring to locals around here! You DO NOT LIVE HERE. Go away!

Actually, it was the Richland Mall. It was flanked by Hess's on the south end and Clemens Market on the north end.
When you walked into the entrance by Clemens, there originally was a Baskin Robbins, then Cosmo Pizza...great stuffed pizzas! There was Bagels Bagels: they made this great garden vegetable spread which was like cole-slaw made with cream cheese. Then there was Radio Shack, Rea & Derrick Drugstore (became CVS), a few women's stores (Deb, Fashion Bug), the first Italian Delight in Qtown, a soft pretzel stand, Larmon Photo, Pearle Vision. What was the name of the jeans store right at the entrance to Hess's? The name was made out of rope on a diagonal wood plank wall.
Oh, forgot The Listening Booth record store across from Radio Shack! I remember buying many 45's there!
The other entrance to the mall, by Larmon Photo, is now the entrance to Ollie's!
It was called the Little Lake Motel, and would flood every time the creek got high.

Do you remember when there were businesses on the side of the building where Giant is now? I remember a barber shop and an eye doctor. I'm not sure what else had been there.
