The constitution was created over 200 years ago when the population of the whole country was roughly 4 million people. Fast forward to today and we have roughly 300 million. We have about 100 million gun owners in this country odds are millions of those owners are not going to be "responsible" with guns.

It's all a numbers game. The more people with guns the more chances of things going wrong.

You can't even get people to obey speed limits and not talk on a cell phone driving and you trust these people with guns? Come on now.

The constitution needs to be revamped to fit with a new world with a ton more people.

I agree that the Second Amendment is clearly outdated. It was written with muskets in mind not assault rifles and high ammo clips.

I'm against the NRA because it's run by the gun manufacturers, but I totally disagree with your statement "odds are millions of those owners are not going to be responsible with guns". The fact is, there's only a very small minority who are irresponsible. The overwhelming majority of gun owners are good and careful people.

Then amend the Constitution. Don't try all the libs other methods, like Bloomberg and Rahm Emmanuel do, court decisions, etc. See what the people want, kliney!

The majority of people don't want to amend the Constitution. Most people want a ban on assault weapons.

Forefathers were intelligent and also experienced at having to defend themselves against a tyrannical gov! So they took to providing us with an amendment that explicitly protects OUR INHERENT RIGHT of weapon ownership.

Firstly, you cant compare speeding to owning a gun, if your arguements were true, then the 150+ million gun owners would all be criminals according to what you just said, why isnt that true? Why do we see nowhere near the deaths you are trying to say should exist in the US because as you label them, they are not responsible?

Secondly, the bill of rights is in place to protect us and our unalienable rights from a corrupt and tyrannical government that wishes to take our rights away.

Thirdly, to revamp the bill of rights because there is a population increase is ludacris, I cant believe you try to use that as an arguing point...

Fourthly, while I dont often say this, the founding fathers in their own right, were brilliant, they knew that unless you gave the ability of the people to be able to bear arms, that a government can and always will erode the rights of its people away slowly until there is nothing left. Assualt weapons are already limited and highly regulated by the ATF, its called the NFA legislation.

In closing, I find it horrible that people wish to give up their rights to own semi auto weapons and large capacity magazines. What would have happened during the Rodney King riots? What would of happened during Katrina? The truth is, that with the governments in ruling today, that if you give up a little bit of your rights, they slowly start to erode them until they can do what they want. Semi auto weapons allow us to protect our families, keep the government in check by letting it know that "we the people" have the same hardware as them and that we will not be bullied like all the other countries in the world have by their unjust governments. If you really want to make a change, lets revamp health care especially when it comes to the mentally ill, the markets, let's really make a change.

They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.
