Ok - This keeps getting deleted. Standard Based Grading is an abject failure. It makes sense for elementary and middle school. At the high school level, there has been NO educational trend that has caused so much harm to students. Q-town is the ONLY distict that has embraced SBG, at the expense of studnets an teachers. There are perhaps three (3) teachers that believe this is the way to go out of 100. If a teacher in any way dissents, disagrees or even questions the administration, they are threatened with a letter in their file or worse. It is considered insubordination if a professional teacher disagrees with the administration in any way. Who does the community trust - the teachers or the transient administration (specifiacally thrre administrators) who have brought this distict down. The district has evloved from a forward-thinking district to one that is so paraniod, ANY dissent is unwelcome. The very best teacher in the school, happens to be a social studies teacher has decided to retire rather than deal with this vindictive administration. The public needs to know what is happening. Does this community trust the many teachers who have been involved in this community forever, or three transient administrators?

Standards based grading is, by at least to a degree, mandated by PDE.

The state has set the standards, but you DON'T need to use Standards Based Grading to achieve them. That is what the QCSD would lead you to believe, but the only requirement for PA schools is to MEET the standards, but PA doesn't mandate HOW you meet the standards.

wait til your kids have to apply to college. Colleges want GPA and class rank......the district says that colleges will "work" with them...yeah ok.

Because no one wants sto stand I saw the light flashing All day all this train does is cross the street back and forth like 10 times in a row honking that extremely loud horn. Why does the horn have to be so loud and done multiple times? The cars cant see the arms down and the flashing red light that are already sitting there waiting for it to go by? Today this train crossed the track 6 times with a break of about 2 minutes in between slamming that horn! Is that even legal to disrupt the flow of 313s traffic all the time like that for just the locomotive to cross?

Shit will hit the fan if I can't get my child's class rank and GPA. I know a few people in Harrisburg!

You are pretty entertaining and it seems like you have a ton of energy or just plain nothing else to do. If you could sit and type your little response over and over again...wow, like I said ...a ton of energy. Why not get out and do some good for the community or for mankind in general. Do some volunteer work, help the elderly, help out at the food pantry, make a difference with a child. Just don't worry about the train so much. It's going to make you sick! And I already know what your response will be......

Now, a student can fail a test, then remidiate and wind up with an A. You can turn in all of your assignments late and get full credit. You can have D and F in all your classes most of the semester for not doing any school work, but if at the end you get caught up, you can be an honor student. Yeah, that doesn't work in college or in the work place. These kids are going to have big problems when they graduate.

Looks like people (teachers) knew that SBG was going to be disastrous quite a while ago. Shame they weren't listened to.

I'm not sure why this would upset you ? You use grand words but don't know when to end a sentence or spell simple things. This should be perfect for dumb a$$'s like yourself.
