Last night about 9:55 my wife and I both saw a large fireball type thing shoot across the sky.I would say it was about one quarter the size of the moon.It was green, then blue, then kind of an orange color before it disappeated. The thing went across the southern sky.It was moving horizontally, made no noise, and the whole thing lasted about 5 seconds. And no,we weren't drinking. We live in Springfield township near Coopersburg.

It is a meteorite burning up as it enters the earth's atmosphere. I too have seen these before. They are generally small (size of a basketball or smaller) but burn with enormous light and brightness making it look much bigger. They are harmless and happen occassionally, but they are pretty cool when you catch em

I was stopped at the light in Q-town facing south at third and Main when I saw it shoot from east to west. At first I assumed it was a meteor. I have seen them before. But quickly realized it had more of the characteristics of a firework. Meteors move fast and give off consistent light until they burn out. This one was bright but sputtered and gave off sparks like fireworks.

you can find some meteorites in your rain gutters. next time you are cleaning out your gutters. put a magnet on a string and drag it through the junk in your gutter. if something sticks to the magent, it is very possible that it is a meteorite.

No Doubt , I was stargazing facing southward and I saw the fireball from the beginning to end. It was absolutely amazing. Huge beyond Huge. Other worldly. Yes I agree with the colors very cosmic,
Turquoise a little green, orange and gold.

wow...it looks like a lot of people use this message board as a source of news and information.

The Intel has used this blog thread as documented evidence for the meteor. check out the article.

I saw it too. I was actually looking south and saw it moving east to west. It was a fireball meteorite. It's the first one I've ever seen.

Caveat: If you are tired of reading about Richland Township politics and their accompanying drivel:
SKIP THIS THREAD!
To the dismay of, and apology to, intelligent bloggers on this site, I have finally found a Direct link between this thread and Richland Township political trivia and trash.
Brian Kline, our 2x losing and 1x drop out candidate for Richland Township Supervisor and 1x loser for Democratic candidate to unseat our beloved (?!?) Paul Clymer, was a UFO EXPERT AND A TRUE BELIEVER!
Google back if you dare but be warned that it is all absurd.
Perhaps he has a cogent explanation for the unusual celestial event you witnessedů..
Again apologies- I am a prisoner to my own vices.
Skip on, oh wise bloggers!

Is that what you been doing up there....I thought you were seining for minnows.
There are still a lot of Earth rocks which will also attract a magnet, so by no means is this test conclusive. A very few meteorites will not attract a magnet. However chances are small that's a meteorite in your gutter... iron dust at best.
unless you have some guy going around throwing iron pebbles at houses it is pretty likely that the pebbles are metoerites. dust particles are different story. it is not likely that you have iron pebbles that came from an earth bound source in your gutters. unless you live near a blast site.

The same fireball meteor was spotted all the way out on the Jersey shore. I didn't see it myself, but my brother sent me a message at 10pm Sunday night saying he had seen a spectacular fireball in the southern sky, going from east to west. I guess it was still pretty high up in the sky for it to be seen so low on the horizon from the NJ shore to inland PA. I'd be interested in hearing what other areas saw this same fireball.

Meteor shower to start soon, more things in the night sky.

I don't suppose there is a missile missing from somwhere that could account for this, did anything get shot down last night, our government is really clever at that kind of stuff.

Imagine killing over 3,000 people in New York to start a war with a country not even involved. Look within ...Ziegen
