It comes from someone on the inside...not a rumor.
And when you heard it from that inside person, what did you say to him/her? Did you voice your displeasure, or figure you would wait and post on TOPIX and see if that will change anything?

I'm just saying that because there are plenty of folks on here that talk big, but act tiny. I hope you are not one of them. Go to the BOS...go and talk to Orloff...voice your thoughts, and then vote him out. I'll be doing the same.

"Had Enough"wrote "In Dec 2008, Richland passed a whopper of a tax increase, and we've been at that level for the fourth year now. The majority of that increase is earmarked to fund the RTPD each year."

-----The tax increase was the result of the financial collapse of the general economy.

"Had Enough" wrote: "Orloff, as part of his 2007 reelection campaign, said he would provide us with 24/7 police coverage."

-----The last time Orloff ran he did NOT pledge or promise to increase the local police force to 27/7 coverage. His written platform clearly explained that IF the local police force moved to 27/7 coverage a tax increase would be required.

"Had Enough" wrote: "Right now, at this very moment, Chief Ficco is ready to roll out 24/7 police coverage for the township, which would be great because of the increase in crime, but there's one small hitch that's holding him back..."

-----And that "hitch" would be the budget. Adding unbudgeted personnel "NOW, not next year" as "Disagree" wrote is not a responsible act. "The plan" is the budget. The budget is on line. Any increase in the Richland Township Police Department-Five Year Operations Budget Cash Requirement Schedule should require changes in the actual and projected budgets and be open to public debate.

"Had Enough" wrote: "Rick Orloff. He wants to wait until next fall to roll this out because he wants to use this as part of his reelection run in 2013 for a fourth term."

-----Use logic. The 2013 budget will have to reflect any change in expenses before it is passed in 2012. IF Orloff runs in 2013 any changes now or next year will be reflected in his record no matter when it occurs.

If the decision is put off until the next BOS election cycle, there will be lots of time for those who support or oppose the change to testify at BOS meetings, to write letters to the editor, to gather signatures on petitions, to rally and to support an opposing candidate.

Speak up where and when it matters if you are concerned.

All Richland Township citizen can appear at a BOS meeting and make his or her thoughts known and see their comments shared with neighbors in the official legal record (BOS Meeting Minutes). "Snowman" and others who support or oppose 24/7 coverage should ACT rather than bellyache here on Topix anonymously.

Well, look on the bright side everyone - the number of hours in a day hasn't increased in Richland - campaign promise kept.

It is way TOO long that he is in this position. I think he has caused enough headaches for the taxpayers.

Well, not the same way he reacted to the "Chick-Fil-a" topic.
He gave them an Employer of the year award from the township for their views.
Kind of a slap in the face for his gay son....don't ya think??

Interesting how this thread goes up and then there's this.

http://www.phillyburbs.com/news/local/the_int...

Now would be a good time to start talking with Quakertown about merging the two departments, especially when you consider that Quakertown is an island inside of Richland!
